That’s great news, and thanks for letting us know :grinning: Performance does seem to be good, given that this is running through Wine and then Rosetta2. Apple have done a great job!

Conversations internally about how we continue to support Mac long term are still happening

If you’re able to provide any details to the community on changes you needed to make to get it working, that would be appreciated. Or Is it a case of it just working?

Comment

A new launcher release is out. Please ensure you’re running the latest version on Mac.

Hi folks
We have deployed the first part of the fix for some of the crashing on exit issues. We also aim to release the second part today, which is an update to the launcher. They need to work together for this particular issue.

We are aiming for the deployment of the launcher this afternoon.

There may still be an issue, where if the client actually crashes (and not an exit), a Wine-preloader stays active. We’re keeping an eye on this.

We are currently testing a possible fix. I’ll provide more info as I have it

Hi folks

We are aware that the client is not working on M1. Investigations are happening internally into what options are available.

There were a number of issues yesterday with servers that Apple run, which caused issues for non Apple applications on Mac: https://twitter.com/lapcatsoftware/status/1326990296412991489

I believe these have been resolved now, but we saw issues internally too as a result of this.

I don’t know if this is directly related, but thought I’d mention it as many issues I was having have cleared up today.

We have deployed a fix today that should resolve any map issues. If you still experience any, please file a bug report.

We are investigating the cause of the crash monitoring process having issues.

Hi folks. Sorry for the inconvenience. We’re looking into this.

It shouldn’t stop the ability to play, but if this is not the case, please let us know with a Bug Report.

Thank you for the reports with some windows having rendering issues with AA enabled. We are currently investigating this.
For the moment, disabling AA should resolve the issue until we deploy a fix.

Edit - We have a reproduction now. Thank you for all the bug reports.

I’ve done a bit of testing tonight on a clean Windows 10 machine and can get the Japanese IME working.

My steps were as follows:

  • Installed the Japanese IME through the standard Windows control panel application
  • Started the client in windowed mode. Fullscreen is fundimentally incompatible with MS IME
  • With the client focused, changed language using ‘Windows key + Space’ to “Japanese - Microsoft IME”
  • This didn’t alter the language in the client
  • With the EVE client focussed and a textbox selected (notepad, chat etc.), I Then clicked the “A” icon in the system tray to change the input type:
    image becomes image
  • The ...

Thanks for the posts, I will follow them up internally.

Do you know of anything “unusual” with your setups? I know that’s quite a vague question, but anything which is non-standard we could investigate could be helpful.

As it stands, we’ve tested Japanese IME and it works as expected for us. The person who made the IME changes is a Japanese speaker who has checked it again.
We’ll do more digging on this - but please file a bug report. It includes useful system information in it, which may just contain something that helps us find the problem.

Thanks. I’ve asked someone to look into it.

edit - could you file a bug report so we can see your system information. We’ve not been able to replicate it yet.

Hi
Could you provide more information? A bug report would be ideal.

When you say “i click IME” - what / where are you clicking this? We’ve tested Chinese input within Windows and not experienced any issues. I’m keen to get a reproduction that we can follow up on.

Many thanks.

We have become aware that some 3rd party programs are having issues, Namely Sogou pinyin and QQ pinyin.

We are currently investigating these reports. Default OS based IME should be working as intended.

Edit - The issue lies with the 3rd party tools. We’re trying to reach out to the developers of these tools.

Edit2 - Sougou should now work with the latest update. Please update if you’re running an old version.

Hi there

As part of the release on August 11th, there has been a cleanup of the code that handles IME within EVE.

If you’re not familiar with IME, it allows for input of characters that are not on typical standard Latin based keyboards. For example, typing in Chinese on a US-105 keyboard.

If you’re a user that switches between different character inputs while playing EVE and you notice any issues, please let us know by filing a bug report.

Hey folks
If you have a bug report in, could you let me know the ticket number so we can take a look at it and try to reproduce it in house?

Many thanks

We’re not aware of any outstanding issues with client sound @Lord_Zizo

I couldn’t see a patch on the 26, July 2020, but I did check the dates around it and I couldn’t see anything obvious that would cause issues.
If you experience any more problems, please file a bug report for us to look into, including as much information as possible.

Hi
Sounds about right - the file causing the issue is ~520MB.
The main fix is curently in testing.

Hi
We have found a defect where new installs fail to have music working correctly. A fix is in the works.
Once deployed, you may need to verify your cache from within the launcher.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll get some internal tests run and see if we can replicate the performance drop.

For those that have replied above: How does the performance drop show? Is it a loss of FPS or something else?
Could you confirm if the drop happens if you disable audio in the client (and restart it)? This would really help us identify where the issue may be happening.
