Good recommendation above! Also, although this article was created with Vermintide 2 in mind, the solutions should still be relevant to your situation: https://support.fatshark.se/hc/en-us/articles/360038458034--PC-Stuck-in-a-Steam-Validation-Update-Installation-Loop-

“Microsoft Gaming Services not installed” is a redundant error being displayed in the launcher for some Steam players, and can be ignored. You should be able to play as normal, without having to install Microsoft Gaming Services.

Shout out to our Release Manager for addressing the issue so rapidly :trophy:

Hope you all have a blast tomorrow!

Pushed some changes. Could somebody try using the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option now, and see what happens please?

Just to reiterate, if you do manage to launch:

Please keep in mind that the Darktide Closed Beta Test is not yet live, and the current expected behaviour is for a Backend Error to appear once the client has loaded. The Closed Beta Test will be live at 12 PM GMT on October 14th.

We are aware of and looking in to the error below, which some players are experiencing on attempting to launch Darktide.

An error occurred while updating Warhammer 40,000 Darktide Closed Beta Test (missing executable)

It is our understanding that this error can persist after using the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option.

Could anybody experiencing these issues please share with me: your country/state, and the name of your ISP. You can contact me privately if you’re not comfortable posting publicly.

It’s my understanding Comodo have whitelisted Easy Anti-Cheat. Do you have the latest version of Comodo installed?

Hi everybody, could you tell me which part of the world you’re playing from, and the names of your ISPs please?

Oh wow - would you be able to upload a couple of console logs, from sessions where these disconnects have occurred? I can then pop it in to our database for investigation.

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2\console_logs
  4. Locate the console log that corresponds with the session in which the issue occurred, by looking at the timestamps in the log names

Please may I double-check that your ‘Game Details’ setting in Steam is not set to private? Navigate to your Steam profile, and select ‘Edit Profile’ → ‘Privacy Settings’.

Unfortunately persistent corruption errors of this nature are usually indicative of another underlying problem. Sometimes it’s RAM-related, such as having mismatched RAM speeds. I recommend having a look here if you haven’t already: https://support.fatshark.se/hc/en-us/articles/360021425793--PC-How-to-Resolve-Data-Corruption-Errors

No changes on our end, and no recent updates to the Steam client, so I’m not sure what could’ve happened here!

Does the same person usually host?

Sorry to hear this Dzor. Could you try a ‘Selective Startup’ please and see if this changes any of the symptoms?

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load Startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC
  6. Launch Vermintide 2 as normal, and see if the issue persists

Keep us posted!

Thank you Harridas, appreciate your detailed reports as always.

That’s unfortunate - in cases where the errors continue after using the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option, we consider it to be persistent data corruption - which can, unfortunately, occur for a number of reasons.

We have a list of potential solutions in the article linked below, which we’ve created based on what’s worked for players in the past:

For this to occur so suddenly and without a patch, there may be a driver or hardware-related culprit. Can you think what could have changed on your PC around that time?

Otherwise, it’s always worth cleanly reinstalling your GPU drivers: https://support.fatshark.se/hc/en-us/articles/360021233554--PC-How-to-Perform-a-Clean-Re-Installation-of-Your-NVIDIA-GPU-Drivers

Hello! It looks like your installation is incomplete. Please use the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option, which is accessible via the Steam client using the instructions below:

  1. Right-click Vermintide 2 in your Steam library sidebar
  2. Select ‘Properties’
  3. Select the ‘Local Files’ tab
  4. Select the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ button
  5. When complete, close and reopen Steam
