Yeah no you're completely exaggerating lol

We're protecting a toxic player who got someone comms banned, because an innocent could be caught in the crossfire/the story is fake?

Yes they are and that's a good thing. It's ridiculously easy for a troll to misdirect an internet mob and ruin someone's day/week/worse, and I'm not saying it's necessarily the case here. Most subreddits tell you not to start a witchhunt, this isn't exclusive to DRG. Also on a side note next time you say something like "We're not doing x because there's a risk that an innocent is punished?" ask yourself if that's how a justice system should work in your opinion.

But anyways, a DEVELOPER of the game chooses to reply to the post and start m...

GSG_Jacob:

That’s exactly what you said. I’ve already had several people being harassed due to posts like this, because usernames are so easily faked, so don’t try pull off a half-assed comment about “all it does is not let us talk about toxic people” when the rule is there to protect people from internet vigilantes with their heads up their asses. People can report profiles on the platforms they encounter them on. Adding to that, this is a post about someone taking an extra resupply, sheesh.

My response:

So let me get this straight... We're protecting a toxic player who got someone comms banned, because an innocent could be caught in the crossfire/the story is fake? I could be wrong, but that feels like something you could actually verify with OP.

But anyways, a DEVELOPER...

Wow, an alt account to circumvent your ban and twist your narrative. You're not the bad guy at all, no.

That’s exactly what I said??? Excuse me??? Please show me where I said “punish someone based on no evidence at all”. I literally never said anything close to that. There is more than enough evidence to justifiably punish players like “scout”. Your half assed excuses for doing nothing don’t hold water. Now you’re putting words in my mouth to try and demonize me as a way to justify doing nothing.

Also, very nice of you to say that we have our heads up our asses for wanting the toxic players to be dealt with like they are in pretty much every other gaming community. It seems you were projecting a bit when you said that.

Nice talking to you Jacob you come across like a real swell guy and a pillar of the gaming community. I’m glad most other devs are nothing like you. Rock and Stone.

You’re literally saying the rule is there to keep “you” from spreading awareness about toxic players, and I explained clearly that the rule is there to protect people (including you) from witchhunts. The rule doesn’t bend one way or the other. All naming and shaming posts will be removed - I will not have another innocent person being harassed because you feel a screenshot of a chat is sufficient to go after any person on Steam named Scout playing Deep Rock Galactic.

Well I would like to add that it is more than just taking an extra resupply, the user went out of his way to message me after intentionally riling me up so he could trap me into saying a cuss word which he then immediately reported. This is incredibly toxic behavior. I'm 100% certain I'm not the first person he's done this to.

As such, your post is fine, except for the name. As long as it’s focusing on your experience of the encounter, it’s not a problem. We just cannot have people throwing random names in the pool, as it will hit people that aren’t involved. Also, it’s your word against theirs and there’s really no reason to get the internet involved on that level.

Is that what I said??? There’s absolutely no reason for the player “scout” to not be perma banned. It’s unacceptable. There’s also no reason we shouldn’t be allowed to discuss the toxic players we encounter so that we can spread awareness and avoid playing with them in the future. Also unacceptable.

Y’all literally refuse to do anything about it and act like the problem doesn’t exist. Your report system is a joke. It almost seems like y’all are fine with these types of players harassing the community. At the very least you don’t seem to care. Not a good look at all. Especially when all you say about it is a stupid f**king joke when players are pleading with you to do something. “not very rock and stone”.

All it does is keep us from spreading awareness about the toxic players to avoid since y’all refuse to do anything about them.

So you want us to punish someone based on no evidence at all, on a closed network we can’t moderate at all?

No, that’s not “all it does”.

I posted this elsewhere, but I'll also put it here.
The current system is actually the result of a lot of tweaking and design. Having shadows on the flashlights (and flares) gets chaotic real fast and it was decided against having it to keep the aesthetics in the game. While the dwarves have a flashlight, the game is designed around the flares and how you need to use them for visibility. The flashlight is a last resort, bare minimum thing. It's not supposed to be good or flashy (heh) but it's a step above complete darkness.
So, while performance would also take a hit, the lights in the game are the way they are primarily because of how the game is designed around darkness. I think the video does a good job at illustrating how elements taken slightly out of context can seem like weird choices, and how these choices work in the bigger picture of the game direction.

The wiki apparently sucks on my phone, but on the accessories page it should be divided into where they are from. If not I’ll try to check later.

Mark just posted this, but I can't seem to pin his comment. So, I have chosen violence instead and stolen it for myself.

We have discovered the cause of the unchangeable modification issue. It's caused by the Display Area settings on the PlayStation 4.

While we're working on a permanent solution, here's a workaround:

Go to Settings - Sound and Screen - Display Area Settings - and enlarge the boxed area.

A lot of people are - we're also seeing a major drop in disconnects in the stats. Doesn't mean that all the quirks have been squashed, but we're getting there.
