I believe it’s a technical limitation / performance consideration. There’s a similar thing in place for ailment visual effects.
We’re aware of this bug, we’ve been able to mitigate it but are still looking into it. Could you record a video clip of it happening, if possible?
The sound may recover after a while of playing, but restarting the game will fix it for the time being.

What is the name you’re trying to use? Do you have another character with that name?
This is a known issue if you’ve deleted a solo character and make one with the same name. Thanks!
I’ll leave any points about appearance to the art team, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that we’re suddenly not updating the other character class models just because they’re not included in this post. We still plan to update the other character models for 0.8.4.

Due to a miscommunication pre-patch, Javelin’s Holy Trail ended up with added spell damage scaling, which was not intentional. The healing effectiveness scaling from the Path of Judgement node is meant to be a replacement for added damage scaling like it is for Consecrated Ground. Having spell damage and healing effectiveness scaling means that extremely high damage can be achieved by scaling both, because they’re multiplicative with each other.
Despite this being a mistake, it has made damage over time paladin builds that scale healing effectiveness viable, which was one of our aims when adding Holy Trail. As such we have decided to keep the spell damage scaling, but make it stack additively with the healing effectiveness scaling.

We have a fix for certain enemies not being able to be pierced by abilities coming in 0.8.3c.
I think the problem causing this pierce bug is also causing this bug, so let us know if you’re still running into it after the update.
