Thanks for your answer, I assume clues won't be in zeah as well? Since that area will be locked?
I believe the plan is to disable those steps

Can you make the teleports slow, or annoying to use in some way? I don't think any metas should include abusing these new arbitrary teleports, which would definitely be the case if we could instantly teleport between certain areas.
Yeah I definitely agree, might even consider a cooldown for those specifically
If you unlock a region that isn't adjacent to anything you currently have unlocked, is there any other way to get there besides teleporting?
We'll provide teleports so that you don't have to unlock it through other methods.
How will clue scrolls work? Will you only get the steps that can be completed in your unlocked areas?
Clue scrolls will work like they do normally. (Not like they did in Twisted League) We'll just make sure steps locked behind quests that can't be completed are available.
Synergistic relics should not be totally abandoned in future leagues hopefully - it was a fun part of strategizing last time. I am stoked about this league though!
They're not abandoned at all! Only difference is that this time you have the opportunity to be creative and find cool combinations rather than us just giving you a pre-made build that will work.
IMO, it's more fun seeing creative player-made builds rather than everyone picking among 4 common builds.
In a league where the completion date of a task matters not, I don’t see why this would be a viable strategy. This relic seems weaker than the other two on its face. I hope there will be some sort of secondary benefit added during balancing.
The completion date might matter if you're racing againt other players.
But yeah, of course we're going to review all the relics in the balancing phase so we'll see what happens then.
AFK autobank now also gives double resources? I'm not complaining
Me neither
I'm afraid itl be too weak. Those are big advantages normally but when you have a base 5x exp that can probably be increased to even higher amounts later on, the 10 levels may end up being very weak in comparison to the other 2. Just my guess though.
I see your point, but it's not just in one skill. Getting 85-95 in one skill will probably not take long, but the boost covers all non-combat skills.
I think this Relic is more targeted towards players racing to certain objectives. If you want items early to complete tasks or to overcome challenges before other players, this Relic will probably help you more than the other two.
Flip, is a time capped league something you guys would consider? Something where you get maybe 10 hours a day, or a certain amount of hours for the whole league?
I can see it coming with problems where everything is based on efficiency, but it already kind of is and this would at least limit time advantage.
I'm personally not a big fan of time-capped challenges in OSRS. I feel like it contradicts the original design of the game by pressuring you to use every minute as efficiently as possible, leading to a lot of niche, tedious strategies. I feel like it's harder to enjoy the game when a clock is ticking.
(Just my personal opinion though, doesn't mean it can't ever happen)
I am SO excited! I've been craving new Leagues content since the day Twisted League ended. What is somewhat disappointing is we're still on a 2-month time limit to play and enjoy the League. Is there any chance at all that the League worlds could continue to function past the 2-month point gathering time limit and allow us to continue playing without being allowed to store points? And for that matter, could "off-season" leagues be a thing so we can continue to enjoy them for their own sake?
We're not extending it past the 2-month mark. (Only if it clashes with certain dates or holidays) But even then, it should just be a few days.
We have been discussing the potential of making off-season Leagues without rewards, purely for fun but I can't promise anything at this point.
Glad you're also excited! :)
Will we be able to do group pvm? (drop goes to highest damage as with normal accounts). Bossing might end up a nightmare with everyone as an ironman for non-instanced bosses.
Extremely Excited.
We're currently discussing this, so no decisions have been made yet. Me too, see you in the Trailblazer League! :)
So this is like gridlocked? The series Framed did?
Not quite gridlocked (although it's still on our backlog of potential concepts) since you can pick regions that aren't adjacent to each other. The unlocks are also based on a flat amount of normal tasks rather than a check-list of tasks you need to complete and the regions are much larger than grids.
Is the team content with the current balance of Relics and Tasks? TL was a mess on how underwhelming some relics were and how heavily weighted skilling and clues tasks were
Statistics showed the Twisted League Relics were fairly balanced in terms of pick rate. Now, that doesn't mean they are balanced on paper, but it showed that there was at least a diverse desire for the different Relics.
It's impossible getting all Relics to a completely balanced state, because so many systems and strategies feed into the power of the Relics. But I can assure you we're doing our best to create interesting and fair picks for the players and hopefully we end up with a diverse, fair pool of choices.
We're doing two concrete changes this time around to improve the over-all balance of Relics. Passive effects are the first addition we're doing, to make sure all "boring, but strategic" choices are free for everyone no matter which Relic they pick. That's why you won't see a Relic that just boosts all your XP by x5 this League. Secondly, we've categorized the choices so that someone can't pick the "PVM route" because the over-all balance favours PV...
Read moreThat seems worse than the alternative, was it not possible to have excess items be sent to the bank? It'll make some things like woodcutting quite annoying since if you wanted to for example, fletch the logs you cut, you'd have to later go to the bank and do it there.
I see your point here, and this could definitely be a valid change to the Relic if time allows or potentially for a future Leauge.
This Relic is based on Arcane Courier from Twisted League, which worked as described in the blog.
Will the boost allow you to get slayer assignments 10 over your level as well? Like getting assigned Abby demons at 75 slayer? Or will it act more like an invisible boost?
I'm fairly certain slayer tasks are locked behind base level and not boosted levels, so no. You could still kill abyssal demons off-task though.
I'll let you trailblaze me after reading that
hmm
Honestly idk. My first thought is that cb skills are att, str, def, hp, mage, range, prayer. But they could definitely include slayer in there if they want, it's just up to them.
/u/JagexFlippy any info on this? Is slayer considered a cb skill?
Slayer is not considered a combat skill for this Relic. Only skills that affect your combat level.
I was excited for the first Leagues as an old RS player who hadn't played in like 10 years. It got me so hard back into the game I started an Ironman as soon as it finished.
I am SO excited for this. It's unhealthy how much I am going to play. Dragon cup here we come
Me too, can't wait!
/u/JagexFlippy Can you elaborate on the "Skilling Prodigy" relic? If you were 99 in Woodcutting, would it boost you to 109? And what's the point of that, because this twitter post from Ash implies that skills boosted over level 99 are for the most part useless, unless it's a combat skill.
What you say is true, it won't help you once you're above 99. Personally I think the main benefit from the relic comes from hitting level milestones much earlier than everyone else. Having a whip between 75-85 slayer, fury at 80 crafting, etc.
We haven't gotten into the balancing jobs yet, so numbers may change prior to the Leagues launch, so please keep that in mind.
That's a fair perspective. Regardless of how the trophies shake out, I'm super excited for the new League and can't wait to see what you've all come up with for your second swing at it. The first League was surprisingly polished for a first attempt at such a big concept. Stay safe and good luck, Flippy!
Big thank you for addressing this, we really do value feedback like this. So glad you're excited, I am too!
We'll try our absolute best to get these things right for you guys. :)
