I would gather that is an accessibility thing, to allow people to actually see the dragons.
Need for Speed Dragonride, now that is fire.

Now we've got a black dragon with lava wings. Somehow it glows a different shade of orange at the bottom where it doesnt actually have any lava. Head shape changed for no reason making it less unique and the body's main color makes it too dark for the area if you play on low brightness.

Giving constructive criticism is only possible if the art team actually seeks it

Art is very subjective and it's particularly hard to please everyone. Finding a compromise on this is harder than you might think.

Bold of you to think OSRS has access to UV mapping. Honestly, this is probably the best that can be done with the tools.

Has there ever been consideration into just re-enabling the old events each year? Give players the ability to replay all the previous events, or a select rotation of events?

There was, that was the other option. But the team decided that a new event would most likely be received better this time around, especially since we also announced it in the summit, and I thought I could make something pretty cool by plagerising my own code from 2008, which IS pretty old school if you think about it. Yet you could never perform tricks in the original.
But honestly if there's a mood for it I reckon we would bring back (really) old events some time.

We were given very limited time to work on it, very little support as everyone was stuck on bigger projects, but still with desire for it to be a new event since Halloween was so poorly received. Soooo... You're not wrong. It was a very intense minute, though.

Anti-Santa was out and about this year and he wasn't having it. I wasn't able to stop him in time. Hopefully he has learnt his lessons and it won't be a problem next year.

You should only need to actually successfully hit him 10 times. There's a few things that might be the problem here:
- Your ability to throw snowballs is loosely tied to your ranged level, so you may not hit him every time.
- It is quite easy to hit players rather than anti-santa if the world is busy. It didn't look like it was the problem here.
- You need to stand on firm ground when the snowball lands so you can hear what Anti-santa has to say about it. If you're sliding you'll have to throw another one. You don't actually have to be on the field to pelt him. You can stand outside of the fence and get it from there.
- Once you get to the final snowball to land, Anti-Santa will tell you to stop. Listen to what he has to say and the chat that comes after. You will only be able to send Anti-santa flying once Jack Frost has made you denser. (And attacking from the west yields the most spectacular result)
Given Jack's chat, you're not too far off!

Gratzs :D
Talk to Jack Frost again and get temporarily snowed on!

So was this a problem last year or did somehow even copy pasting go wrong

This event isn't an exact rerun of last year's event. Among other changes, the generous NPCs used are different and have brand-new dialog. The rewards are also brand-new.

This was an oversight and should now be fixed!

Did you change the delay from entering the room or something? I thought the current system was that when you entered the room, that was when the 3t delay happened.

So the delay was designed to match exactly how it works in the revenant caves. For reference, it is any time, as long as you're in the cave and have recently been in PvM combat.

However. It used to take effect "the moment you entered the room" because the bit of code that should have restricted to after combat wasn't in the right set of brackets. This is now fixed.
It was never exclusively "when entering the room", I think that is just an unfortunate wording that kind of stuck and I didn't pick up on when reviewing the newspost.

If they used the client ping instead, they could have a much smaller threshold of like 3 seconds of server being unable to find the client and then auto tp you to safety.
Instead you have to have a time last maybe 10 + seconds which could lead to a death even if you disconnect.
Or if you forget to click for 10 seconds while still playing the game, you get pointlessly yeeted out of your content.

This will be coming in a few weeks, as the change requires an engine change which is not yet available. We took the decision to release the crystal early and working sub-optimally, as it's still better than nothing at all.
So as for the topic of this post, the escape crystal did not come with any rule changes to the way the raids work. Changing raids is a bigger discussion which will need to be brought to the team separately, although I've put it on the discussion agenda now.

Why not both? ;) It is currently both. That way it allows for easy clicking no matter what the tilt on your camera is.

I'm still a little confused though - Why before now was it possible to do the update with a visual pillar in the middle, but not with that same pillar being invisible?

From what I can tell that's what the new iteration is, and I'm a bit confused as to why that wasn't done initially rather than the light pillar.

Is that specifically less a technical issue and more a playability issue with invisible clickboxes?

Basically yes, it's not so much a technical issue as a usability issue at this point. Invisible clickboxes with nothing to show for them tend to be confusing because what gets opped sometimes ends up not being what you thought you clicked on. This would be particularly an issue for fairy rings because the clickzone now raises above the ground.
With the butterflies there, it's not so much a problem because there is a visual to click on. Although a visible beam/dustnado did make it even more well defined still, it's fair that it's not to everyone's taste. The current implementation hopes to resolve that.
