Ideally, we'd be able to restore statuses reliably and fairly.

But I'll be the first to say that I am the worst choice of people for setting that precedent. :)

But instead of bringing the real world, like pride, into the game, can’t you just ban more? Being more aggressive with the hammer would already solve a lot of these problems.

Oh for sure. I think both things need to happen. I don't know if we necessarily always need a big, unique content update.

We absolutely need to tighten up on in-game conduct. For sure. But I think encouraging inclusivity is just as important to creating a culture that welcomes people.

If I had free reign, my personal choice would be to have some banners up around cities to celebrate certain culturally relevant days of diversity, and maybe some celebratory drinks in the pubs. Something that we put back into the game every year without much change or hassle.

The painful part is that we do have some levels of hate within the OSRS community. Just like any gaming community, honestly. And some of us take that as a responsibility to address.

When I see homophobia in-game, that makes gay people feel unwelcome, like they don't belong, it makes me want to do something in response. To say 'Yes, we want gay people here. And we don't want homophobia. We will fight on your behalf if you are treated that way.'

I'm proud of our team for running that event, and I'm never going to forget how disappointing the resulting behaviour and following lack of action was. Something that was a beautiful, good gesture, had a reaction that isolated and invalidated people. In my mind, it justified the need for future activism. Whether that's content, or literally just making sure that we're active on socials voicing our support for people who've been marginalized, we have to try to cultivate a good environment for people no matter where they fall in...

Just gonna nip this one a little in the bud. There are easter eggs within the game implementation of that specific relic. They're nothing to do with the tweet content!

It happens! If it helps to know, the response for loot beams took it from 'this isn't going to be a thing at all because why would we' to 'oh man, okay, file that under things we're gonna do at some point!' So I still think it's a good thing that we share a lot of our ideas with players. :)

Big projects do be like that though sometimes

It's super cool and pretty, and we want to do it, but spawning/despawning these beams with an object on the ground has a few complications we haven't worked out without a bit more investigation/work on content and engine. So for now it's kind of ended up in 'This is awesome, let's do it, but also let's do the other things first because this may take a while'-land.

Lol, I won't be banning them. But I won't be offering a reward for killing me, other than the bragging rights of murdering my hardcore. :P

Also it’s been cool to see how active you’ve been on the sub. I feel like I’ve been seeing the name zuko a lot lately

Thanks!!

I've been thinking about this. I'm definitely still finishing off the quests, even if (when) I die. So the stream will last the full length, plus any stretch goals. I've been thinking of some kind of forfeit that I'll have to do for deaths.

If I die during the quests:

  • I'll change my IGN to reflect the way in which I died first, for sure.
  • Dye my hair red since my helm isn't red anymore
  • Dress up as a monkey/elf/dragon for the rest of the stream.

If (especially with MA2) I die during stretch goals: - I keep going, making some donations of my own for every death I have (within reason if I literally can't complete MA2 especially, lol)

This has been awesome, and informative btw. Sorry I can't respond to all.

What I'm seeing here is 'Yes, this would be very nice, and many people would benefit BUT there's like a billion edge cases', which is about the most Old School thing I could imagine.

My personal take-away is that it should be an optional method of self-opted organisation, and not touch any of the existing game.

Perhaps the 'potion vats' aren't even part of the bank. They're just another option, maybe on the banker. And you can choose to deposit/withdraw in the potion vat that way, or just go the traditional route of storing the potions directly in your bank. And perhaps the jewellery could have an exchanger, someone who takes your regularly charged jewellery, and swaps it out for the newer system of jewellery, that is untradeable.

That way, we're not touching any item drops, any current in game systems, or anyones items. We're just offering an opt-in form of organisation.

A Twitter user brought up that they would want this to be an optional update, to which I suddenly realised - actually, they're right! Why not make it optional? We could always have NPCs to handle the exchanges, and let you opt into/out of it that way. :)
