The down side of this update was that it made the game unplayable for a lot of people that played using the official client (due to it playing super laggy) . It would also break all the third party clients and we didn't even have mobile to consider back then

It's because the ban isn't appealable through the old offence appeal system. This new route for appealing the ban was added more recently and the old page hasn't been updated to reflect it

Do you need to read your guys own policies about not debating on social media? This company is a f**king joke. Jmods only get off their own asses to "smackdown" someone when theu ignore every other thread on the sub. And again. If you go to jagexs own site for appealing a ban, it very clearly says they will not debate on any social media. So how does this happen? Messaging the guy in a DM isnt an option ever?

I'm not looking to debate the ban. I am merely trying to provide some clarification on what might have caused the ban, rather than leaving the player (and indeed the Reddit community) thinking that the ban was caused by the "mistake of an automated system"

If you buy the account from a prolific real world trader then yes, the chances of the account being permanently banned will be much higher than if you were to borrow it from a friend. I feel that this should be fairly obvious though.

I've done some digging and I think I've managed to locate the account that you're referring to.

If I do have the correct account then the reason for the ban is that you recently bought the staking account from a rather prolific account/gold seller.

Although it says that it can't be appealed on the offences page, the ban actually can be appealed through this page https://support.runescape.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115002238729-Account-Bans

I believe that there's a request in with the web team to get the offences page updated to be more clear about this.

@Jagex_Weath would you be down to confirm, yet again, that you won’t be banned for legitimately playing the game “bottishly” sometimes.

A young fellow in this thread boldy claimed that he got banned after only a few weeks of playing because he was acting bottish and therefor the ban was unfair

Edit: the persons reddit user is @psychedelictrapboi

Yes

All the ones listed in the post were bots. It looks like most of them (all but 1) got picked up in the daily checks that we do.

This is usually caused by the time on your phone not being the same as your pc.

The lag issues are also being looked into by the network guys

Taking a look at them now. At first glance they just look like regular skilling bots

Looks like you were fairly spot on with your guess about what had caused the ban. Your friend had essentially used you and your other friend as a mule for real world traded gold. I do feel as though a permanent ban was a little harsh for such a small amount though so I've removed the permanent ban :)

I've also unbanned Chad and Hyd, as 12 years seems like pretty good time served for the crime committed.

Also, there's some third party website logins on your account so you'll want to change your password as soon as possible and add authenticator to your account!

Firstly, thank you for responding. I’m glad I’ve broken through!

I already have but I fear it’s absolutely pointless as I’m just going to receive an automated response. I’ve spent hundreds of hours and £ on this game over the years and I have a right to know exactly what I’ve been accused of doing with an actual human looking into the problem.

Can you guarantee this will be dealt with fairly? Can you guarantee I will receive a detailed report of exactly what my character has supposedly done? Can you guarantee that this won’t simply be dealt with by a bot? Are Jagex mods capable of admitting mistakes? Or will selecting the mistake option chuck my appeal in the bin? Can I speak to someone over the phone to resolve this like at any other mmorpg? Can I receive more than copy and paste TOS?

Again I’ve been playing for years including pre-OSRS. I feel that as players and customers, we all have a right to have these questions answered.

Can you guarantee this will be dealt with fairly?: Yes

Can you guarantee I will receive a detailed report of exactly what my character has supposedly done?: No, we don't supply this information

Can you guarantee that this won’t simply be dealt with by a bot? Yes, it will be looked into by a Jagex Mod

Are Jagex mods capable of admitting mistakes? Yes, that's why we have a thorough review process for our bans

Can I speak to someone over the phone to resolve this like at any other mmorpg? We don't currently offer phone support but that won't be necessary to conduct a review of a macro ban

Can I receive more than copy and paste TOS? You'll receive an email and inbox message that explains the decision and the reasoning for that decision

"Massive giveaway over on NobHeadedTwat's YouTube channel, just search TwatFace to enter!"

I usually report them under Advertising Websites but what if that's useless since YouTube isn't against the rules and so the phisher bots get let off?

Report them for advertising websites please. Although they are using an auto typer, a Web advertising report would be more helpful for us :)

Seriously, why is it such a ball ache to get you lot to take notice of our account issues? I've been playing this game since 2004 and you provide the worst customer service support I have ever seen.

Would love to hear what you have to say about this.

The live chat system is something that's already being looked into I believe. The technical restrictions that were mentioned in the first player support blog were preventing them from really exploring it previously. That does also come with the additional issues of verifying someone's identity and for issues like account recovery, they would still need players to go through the recovery system anyway.

No it shouldn't and if he followed the advice in the replies that he got from our support team, when his recovery requests were denied, he could have resolved this issue without using Reddit

You're welcome. This is what's asked for when you submit a recovery request and is also listed in numerous places in the support centre
