Hey folks, while I don’t have an update on work to support Linux or Linux EAC. I do want to confirm that we hear your ask and I will share it with the Dev Team. Thanks for making sure we heard your need and I will escalate upwards.
We’ve heard from the community that a small number of you have experienced hardware failures while playing New World, specifically with GeForce RTX cards. After a lengthy investigation, we have verified that there is no unusual behavior from New World that causes these issues. We are directing players with affected hardware to contact the manufacturer. EVGA has previously acknowledged manufacturing issues on some GeForce RTX cards. New World is safe to play, and we want to get everyone back in Aeternum.
I want to be clear that I genuinely appreciate critical feedback. I will comb through this thread and add the points made to the reports we share with the team.
But I also want to ask that folks focus on constructive, actionable feedback and not pepper in non-constructive insults. We are going to treat you with respect and we ask the same.
If you are posting here the assumption is you want to communicate directly with the folks making the game. We want to hear your feedback, but packaging it in hostility isn’t helpful or welcome.
I agree we could have better planned launch but the team is working around the clock to improve the situation in all ways possible.
As you can see from the exchanges with one another, this is a complicated issue with a lot of factors and no one solution is perfect.
We are trying to address it in a variety of ways and ultimately we’ll need to keep working with the community to get everyone playing with their friends without issue.
We have been rapidly adding worlds, we are working on increased server capacity, we are working on character transfers, and we have prevented new players from adding to the queues of already overcrowded servers.
As we make character transfers available, our hope is that individuals and groups large and small will organize where they want to be long term and help us distribute the entire playerbase throughout all available worlds. This will likely not be perfectly done in our first attempt but we’re committed to working with the community until it feels resolved for everyone.
Sorry we are confusing a few topics.
Server capacity is number of folks who can play at once, scaling this up will impact gameplay and game performance.
Server full status is about tracking the number of active players on a server each day and preventing new folks from creating characters there so this way people with established characters they are invested in are granted access over new folks coming in.
We are continuing to work toward increased server capacity and want to make sure any capacity changes we make ensure quality gameplay.

We note which servers are currently full.
I checked in with the server team and can confirm that every day we review total active characters on a given world day over day. This is how we determine the “full status” of a given server.
We are tracking this and review on a daily basis.
