Edit: I mean, they release 4-5 new champs in a year. Even in 2020 when covid hit, they released 6 new champions just that year. This champ already had his lore, his abilities, an idea for his kit, etc. All they had to do was touch up the animations and looks and tweak his abilities into something more modern, that seems like even less work than creating an entirely new champion.

Actually we also have to re-make all the Champion skins when we do a VGU. And Udyr also had a Ultimate skin. Ultimate skins take as long to make as a Champion. We actually finished base Udyr quite awhile ago and have been doing skin production for along time now

I personally think its a good thing but it also doesn't give me hope for some kits that need desperate overhauls.

We arnt sworn off from it. We just only do it when the champion needs it. We don’t want to do change for the sake of change. Skarner will be a VGU on the level of Urgot/Sion/Galio

Hey Reav3, is this roadmap still planned to be released sometime around mid August, or has it been pushed back?

Yeah, should be sometime next week I believe

That can’t be good for your brain. Thank you for your service.

Lol, their are definitely some “interesting” posts that never make it to the front page

A nice post that might be useful when the devs actually see a post.

Unfortunately, I think Riot mainly looks after high rated posts on this platform, meaning it has to pass the initial coinflip downvote filter of the community. And I’m really not sure if writing quality matters as much as the topic there.

I filter by “new” all the time

Hmm it should be sometime next month, i think earlier rather then later but stuff always shifts and changes. I recorded it (its a another video one!) but it still has to go through a lot of editing/loc, etc before it will be released

Would you also know if Gem is still personally working on champs, since I saw that she was promoted to art director of champ team and Sunny to lead, or is she mostly managing the artists now

She is currently working on a champ with TwinEnzo and JohnODyin. BravoRay still worked on Bel'Veth as Art Director, so she will still likely do champs every so often, though probably not nearly as often as now

What else would go into a gameplay roadmap? And would they potentially be less often or still every few months? I guess these are probably things you are deciding now, but I would appreciate any insights. If you can't give any now, I know I, and many other members of the community, would appreciate an official overview in the future.

We don't have a specific timeframe planned, but its usually after every 2 releases or so. The next one will come out after Udyr is released.

We release stuff when its ready, so not sure. He will likely be sometime either late this year or early next year depending on how he comes along

I was also curious, are you still going to be writing champ roadmaps and doing the champions in season X videos as lead gameplay producer or are you passing those on to lexical

I will be the next few for sure, not sure about after that. I may keep doing them but roll them into a bigger gameplay roadmap, rather then just a champions roadmap

It's pretty frustrating. Feels like Latino representation is always the last thing anyone cares about, and it's crazy cus there's a pretty big league audience from Brazil to Mexico, and like a quarter of the city you guys live in is Mexican.

And ixtal is so f**king cool. I want more of it

Same, we are for sure going to do some in that space soon

Partly yes. Obviously trying to tell same story across a bunch of games was hard and we missed a bit on consistency for SoL, but when we talked about it we also weren’t sure it was the best strategy even if we got the consistency right since you just get the same story in every game. For SG the goal was that any games or teams that wanted to participate in the moment would tell different stories but all in the SG universe which is also why different games have different champions. That way if you play multiple games you would actually get to see different stories in the SG universe rather then all the same

I was the creative lead for the event for the first like 6 months ish, and I was also lead for the entire program stretching across all the games that are participating. So I worked on a lot of the early creative stuff, and how the different games would plug into it. Not alone of course, but with a whole team of amazing creative rioters.

I was technically program lead throughout the whole thing, though once all the teams started running I wasn't really doing much but giving feedback on things here and their. I wasn't working on any of the day to day stuff like I was for Spirit Blossom and Sentinels, just the really high level stuff. As I started to ramp up more and more into the Gameplay lead position I started to work less and less on the SG event.
