I'm also gonna risk my neck in saying this personal belief, but I want to share: Milio's representation not only combats the common stereotype of "only women play enchanters", but he also combats the hispanic-media stereotype of "hispanics characters are always morally gray/ambiguous or ill-intentioned".

On the topic of alternative male enchanter explorations and other lack of representation in League, I want to bring to your attention a big quality missing from every champion in league: Eyeglasses! No champion by default wears seeing eyeglasses in League of Legends (Vayne wears sunglasses and some other few champions wear goggles), but a quick google search says 60% of all people wear eyeglas...

Glasses is definitely on our list of things we need to get to

We we’re definitely looking at encanto as one of the inspirations since it came out around when we started on this champ

Thank you so much! As long as we still get a hot enchanter male someday, I'll be happy.

I was just absolutely terrified that someone would take a look at Milio's data and go "Oh, this didn't significantly increase the rate of male supports played among the people looking for hot males, so the experiment is a failure, let's never do it again." Sometimes the way data is used within Riot has come to conclusions that I personally haven't found to be... the most objective lol.

But yeah, as long as there's still an understanding that people want a hot male enchanter, and that isn't going to be infinitely put on hold forever because of Milio, I'm happy with that. Thank you!

I think the data generally shows that most players want to play attractive, hot champions, regardless of gender :)

I know it's now really, really far down the line, but could we someday have a hot male pure-enchanter support? When a Rioter (I forget who or where) said Riot wanted to increase gender diversity in enchanters (who have primarily conventionally attractive female options), I was really hoping for/expecting a thirst-able male a la Rakan but without the engage part of the kit. Milio, while I'm happy he exists for the people that love him already, doesn't satisfy that given that he's a literal child.

There's still IMO very much a demand for thirst-trap male pure-enchanters, and literally zero options currently. :(

Like I said, I know it'll be way, way down the line (probably 5+ years given the champion slowdown), but it's genuinely disappointing to have so little diversity in a role I care about so much despite having played for thirteen years.

That was me that said that back in the day :). Yeah this is something we know we need, though we intentionally wanted to keep this release away from other make supports like Rakan/Taric. Understand those aren't pure enchanters, and understand we still need that space. We also realized we had no male characters in the 12-14 age range, so that felt more important to prioritize at this moment.

Don't worry she is still is development. I know you are all excited as the rework is really cool. But the tech for it is more complex then most mid scopes so she is going to take a little longer. Should hopefully be out sometime in spring

We do have a few designers/artists from SR working on the game mode, but none currently from Game Loop.

At least, last year the given reason NB didn't get off the ground was that the game modes staff was used to shore up the PIE team. And now here you're saying that champ teams and other teams around Riot (and Gameplay Initiative) are being short-staffed to help beef up game modes. Even when beefed up, the game modes team has also cut regular event modes for 6 months, to pump out a new mode by summer.

Since there's always some content that needs to be placed on the backburner because there aren't enough Rioters available, are there any plans to increase staff to avoid this "shuffle"?

Yes of course. But you have to hire and then ramp people up. If we just starting hiring for the gamemodes team, by the time we hired all the people needed and then ramped then all up we would have no hope of shipping a game mode this summer. You have to bring over veteran people that are already experienced in our tools and design principles. It's not always a question of how much staff we CAN hire, but of actually hiring good people and then getting them trained up onto a team. That takes time.

FYI, it will effect this year as well. When Gamemodes came over to the gameplay initiative it has lost a lot of its team members. We felt it was important to still try and get a new game mode up and running for the Summer Event. In order to do that we had to pull people from many teams on the gameplay initiative (And also people from other places around Riot) in order to quickly beef up that team. The cost of this was that some other things in development for the year (like Champions) will be slowed down or in some cases delayed. So you should also expect to see less Champions this year then last year as well.

Any way you're able to say what the range of "quite some time" is?

Some will be this year, some bigger investments will be further. I want to get a devblog out in the near(ish) future to talk about some of it

My question is are those things being developed for the game League of Legends or just other game projects. Because why would I be excited for other games that I might not play ? If people only want to play League itself what is in store for them is the problem here.

I was talking about LoLPC specifically, not other projects

I mean I can understand why people would draw that conclusion, though I can assure you that we are not. Me saying it isn't going to convince anyone of that though. Like many companies we lost a lot of talent during Covid, where many people took the WFH situation as a opportunity to look for different paths in life. It was rough all around the industry and Riot was no different. It wasn't because Riot intentionally cut budget or scope for LoL. To put it more eloquently, sh*t happens.

How much say do you have in all the content that was announced? Is your new position more one of a manager/coordinator one, or do you still have the chance (and time) to go into the details of some topics?

Well the video covered a bunch of teams, and I'm just the Lead Producer of Gameplay. So I'm not involved in and of the skin/asu stuff PIE is working on. I am very involved in everything Gameplay is working on though. Some of the newer stuff I'm excited about and got rolling once I took this position isn't really ready to talk about yet though, but I'm excited to start talking about it in the future.

He's probably the lowest right now, but still probably medium complexity overall. Roaming is kind of a higher skill thing to understand. I think all Assassins benefit from roaming, but Talons reliance on it keeps him out of the "Simple" category imo.
