Right that was my point. I was saying she wasn't the promised monster champ, even though I think the end result of Bel'Veth is a monster champ (Even if she didnt start that way)

Besides that, I also think more "pretty boy" champions are missing. Not just any attractive guy, but some more twink-ish Ezreal/Aphelios types. So basically, a pretty enchanter boy would definetely appeal to a certain demographic.

And to sort of go off-topic, I know we just got Graves/TF and I don't wanna sound greedy but there's still not that much MLM (gay/bi men) characters. Sorry at this point I'm basically requesting a champ, but really one that filled at least two of these qualities would be great lol.

I agree with all of the points above. Renata actually started out as a male enchanter. We pivoted to female because we wanted to distance the Champion from Silco more. A Male Enchanter is still very high on out to do list. Agree we also need more MLM champions then just Graves/TF as well

yes, that's exactly what it means

E: also this is totally a pipe dream but have there been any ideas floating about with a more modern magical girl, precure, fisticuffs type of appeal?

We haven't discussed that, but it's certainly a interesting idea

Darkin is a place we really want to explore more in the future. Support and mid are the 2 places that don't have a Darkin yet. A Darkin support of some sort does sound sweet though, not sure what class it would be though

Here Reav3 explains a little more about the team's design goals for Bel'Veth, her design iterations, and addresses some of the concerns we've seen pop up in the community re: the perceived disconnect between the fantasy sold in her cinematic and more beat 'em up playstyle, as well as mobility creep.

No worries, sorry If I couldn't get to all the questions. I had over a 100 between a bunch of different websites. So many of you were super interested in BelVeth! I don't blame you though, she's a pretty unique Champion

yes, of course.

Not sure, and I don't think their is any one reason. I don't think broad generalizations of people are that helpful. I think their are probably many different reasons why people make decisions on things like this.

We unfortunately don't have many female monster champs, Rek'Sai being one of the only ones and it's not clear Rek'Sai is female unless you read the lore. It will be interesting to see how Bel'Veth does

i think if there were beginner friendly melees like garen, jax, warwick, master yi, ... as female version (as in cute girls, not illaoi), those roles could be much more popular.

For sure and we are aware those roles are lacking more feminine champions. Both Gwen and Lillia were attempts to add some more diversity to the types of Champions in Top/Jungle

Great! You've over hit your target anyway. Make some male champs for the rest of us. Give us some masculine male enchanters. You had a really cool concept for Renata, and a perfect opportunity to give us a different, masculine take on an enchanter, and defaulted to another female (we haven't had a male support since pyke in season 8).

I think all of this is an excuse for an entire lack of creativity.

To be clear I never said we were catering to anyone. The question I was answering was someone saying we were ignoring half the player base by making slightly more female champs. I had said the reason we are making slightly more female champs is because right now we have less female champs then male champs on the roster. We believe long term its better for the roster to have a more even split between male and female champs. I was just saying that we wouldn't be ignoring male players by making female champions anyway, since most male players don't care about the champion gender.

But Id say most females play botlane and a huge amount of bot lane champs are female. That the newer addiotions are all female probably isnt a coincidence. Kaisa, Senna, Samira, Rell, Seraphine, Zeri...

Actually female players tend to play ADC, Support and Midlane roughly the same amount. Jungle and top are the roles that have very few female players queueing for. It correlates strongly with data we have that shows that female players heavily prefer to play ranged champions rather then melee champions

You mean from the lore? Yes we always look out for good opportunities to bring champs from the lore into SR as Champions if it makes sense,

yeah its something we really want to do on Champs team as well.

Here is a word cloud from 2017 that illustrates this more. The survey asked players what their favorite champions were. Left is male players and right is female players

Yeah, Teemo/Jhin/Veigar/Rakan are at the top, with Teemo being far ahead of Jhin/Veigar/Rakan

We aren't abandoning half our playerbase by making more female Champions. Our data shows that female players primarily play female champions, in fact its something like 97% of female players only play female champions. Male players are evenly spilt between male and female champions, so Male players play 50/50 between male and female champions, If anything whenever we make a male champion we are abandoning most of our female players, since most of our female players won't play male champions at all.
