Over the past year we saw a lot of guest analyst, hosts and casters. These always seem to come in the middle of the split. Personally I iove you all but the fresh opinions and styles are a joy to listen to and those guest weeks were my favorite weeks of the splits. Are the current plans to keep guests in the same timeframe? Or can we expect them to be more spread out a bit more?
Thank you all for the amazing year, it was great to see eu step up so massively this year!
In terms of time frames, those are likely to change, but in terms of bringing guests in from other games or Leagues, that is 100% coming back in 2020. I fought really hard in 2018 to get a few guests on the show, then it worked and I got budget approved for the 2019 season and our guests worked out. The LEC really likes this element of our show and we want to bring it back next season, HOPEFULLY improving upon what we have learned this year.
Are the rumors true that you don't make your own stats? :'(
Sadly.. there is an element of truth to this. I do not make the in depth stats on Quickstats Segments. The true brains there is /u/Barshnip
One thing though, I do have a pretty good head for all time records, longest games, shortest, quickest barons, record streaks etc. I very often ping stats team in game to verify numbers and I'm quite proud of my ability to 'feel' the magic stat :P Often times I am also right. I'm sure Connie can confirm that for me ;) RIGHT CONNIE?
- The on-air team,
Was there ever a moment in your career that you thought ‘Damn, I’ve made it!’. If so, was there any one event that sparked this feeling or was it a gradual build up? P.s. LEC has been amazing to watch this year so thank you!
Gamescom 2014, August 14th. I remember it vividly because it's my birthday, I had been casting League for Riot for over a year and a half and I was preparing for a showday, stood backstage and just had this epiphany... holy sh*t, I'm here, all the way from South Africa, my job is to actually cast League at Gamescom. I just started crying to myself out of surreal joy. I think that was when it really cemented in my mind that I made it.
Quickshot sliding into my DMs and asking me if I wanted to come to EU :)
That's legit how it happened too. How proud of me are you that I know what DM's are.
For Quickshot: What is the actual job of an on-air talent manager? What tasks do you take on?
For Ender: I find your fashion style quite different from that of the others and I like it. Did you come up with that yourself or was it suggested by someone else?
For Drakos / Medic / Quickshot: How can you train to get the words out quickly without stumbling and still sound natural and easy to listen to?
For Laure: Being an interviewer, I assume you talk to players a lot off camera - how hard or easy was it to develop a relationship to everyone so that they and you feel comfortable during interviews on camera?
As part of my responsibilities I am directly responsible for the on-air talent team. Hiring, performance management, development of craft, expense approvals (Boo), budgetting etc. Think of it as any people manager position, but in addition to being a caster on the broadcast. It's a lot of work and I have a lot to learn, but I'm really thankful that I have such an amazing team to work with and that the LEC entrusted me with this ability to grow myself, and the team I work with.
Hey guys thanks for finding the time to do an AMA!
This is for Quickshot: hadn't you pursued a career in casting, what would you be doing today? Dream job? ps. you are awesome and the pillar of Lec. Thank you.
For Vedius: you are a proud representative of Wales, what places are simply unmissable when visiting your country? ps. I love how you embraced your casting style and personality. Never change man!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'll do my best to live up to them.
In terms of what I would be doing, something in sales or marketing. I have a Bcom in Marketing and Business management and used a lot of the principles I learned to help elevate who qu1ksh0t was when I started casting. I've always enjoyed talking to people, using my voice and telling stories, its my biggest strength.
/u/RiotQuickshot, whats an On-air talent manager and what's it's function?

Your new position being moved to "On-Air Talent Manager" being the reason that you do not cast as much? I miss your casting, even though the others are great and I love LEC more than ever, it's still somewhat sad not seeing you that often anymore.
Short answer yes!
What do you do for a living?
Interpretative dance instructor.
Do you guys like cheese? What kind of cheese?
I love any and all cheese, the smellier the better. A guilty pleasure of mine is to melt blue cheese on toast in the microwave. My house smells like feet, but it's so worth it.
How do you communicate with each other during games? Have you developed a sort of silent sign language to use with each other?
What other languages does everyone speak besides english?
What's something you guys do all the time that the audience are never aware of?
One of the tools that we use I have lovingly called the caster remote. We write down key words on a piece of paper, generally next to the stats docs, graphics, stats or other prep the individuals bring into a cast. It kinda looks like this.
-Energy+
-On Screen+
-Team A+
-Team B+
We point at the plus / minus signs on the thing we think needs work, if someone is to hype and yelling too much, I point at -Energy and then they get the hint :D
lec casters suck
Could you could give more context as to why? Any feedback is always welcome.
Why is europe going to win worlds?
G2.
What elo are you guys? Do you think your play in your own games has improved as a result of the analysis you’ve done while casting games?
I've never been better than high gold, currently Silver 2. I'm not very good at the game and definitely don't see the intracacies that my colour casters do, but yes learning the game, how champions feel and watching pro players teaches me the theory, I just suck at putting it into practise.
More a technical question but would it be possible to get the champion stat box (the one you get when a champion is selected) on the bottom left back. It is currently hidden behind the lew layout.
The new layout is great but I miss being able to see how much AD or stack of an effect a champ has. The NA LCS still has it for example
/u/Barshnip Any chance you can help?
To all the amazing casters of the LEC, I'll be coming to the LEC finals in Athens next week, is there a chance I'll get to see you guys? Talk to you a bit and maybe get an autograph and a selfie or two?? You've done such an incredible job ever since the rebranding ( and before that of course) and you're making Europe proud, I've never been more proud of being a European! Cheers!!
There will be photo ops sessions, but it's not 100% guaranteed that we will get to see everyone. Generally speaking at the end of each show day there is a chance that the teams / casters will come out and take photos. If however it's a 5 game series, that sometimes cuts the casters out, as we have to prepare for the Sunday show and get some rest. On Sundays if we have 5 games, then the venue restrictions mean we have to leave pretty quickly and break down the stage and tech.
Short answer is yes, there is a chance, but long form, don't build up expectations that this is the ONLY thing that will make the weekend enjoyable! With some luck and timing you can say hi!
This goes out to all the casters (PBP and Colour):
- What is your all time favourite casting moment/single line someone else made in League history?
ps: Love all of you and your work. Thanks to you guys, the LEC is usually the highlight of my week!
Joe Miller - FLASH BANANA, YES, I have always said those bananas are TOTALLY overpowered.
To the casters: Who would be your dream guest to have on the broadcast?
Trevor Noah.
Why is Quickshot not listed as PBP caster?
My official work title is listed above, I have two roles. On broadcast I am a PBP, but I also manage the team, responsible for hiring, development off air and a few other responsibilities not directly related to the show!
