Sorry, I'm not sure I understand. You want to assign jobs and move orders while the game is paused? If so, then, yes, that's totally possible.

I'd love to have an adventure mode in the future. I can't say that's anywhere close at hand, though. Like you, I really am interested in it. Just not a high priority.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with this update. I'm very close to putting this next version of the game out onto the beta branch.

This week I was wrapping up the temperature system and how it affects entities and the environment. I also updated a lot of the UI to better communicate weather, block temperature, entity temperature, and so on. Here are some gifs showing various UI additions:

You can play as one entity if you choose to. Though, it's not as deep as the adventure mode of DF. We'd like to get it there one day.

This is an issue I've fixed for upcoming patches. Hope to get that out soon. I know it's super annoying when you're just trying to start somewhere peaceful. Sorry for the issue!

1. Personally, I think doing an underground base is faster to get up and running. You can build some light shafts down to your underground base with some glass ceilings. In terms of happiness, as long as you've got the right amenities, they'll be happy above or below.

2. Very possible! Just hold ALT to let you place things in the air.

It's a possibility. I have a prototype of one that I use for testing world gen. It's definitely not out of the question. Just a matter of me getting time to work on that at some point.

There is a bug in the live branch which only lets you change the None to something else from a certain page. Try setting the profession from either the entity screen (T with an entity selected) or the settlers screen. One of these will let you change it. The beta has a fix but I won't be pushing beta to production any time soon.

You're not missing much. The Tavern is just not finished and doesn't REALLY work as intended. I'll be putting out an update in the future which introduces travelling performers, entertainment roles, entertainment rooms and in that I'll fix up the Tavern properly.

Hey gang!

I hope you have all had a wonderful week. I've been working hard on the Tundra and wanted to give you a progress update.



The last two weeks I finished adding the core biome content (excluding fauna). This includes 3 new trees, 3 new plants, all the tuning and data for the seasons and weather, and, lastly, ice!



Much like the snow buildup I've shown in previous dev blogs, ice will appear as you get further into cold seasons. Ice has the added functionality of providing a path above water and can be deconstructed in order to gain access to water/fishing again.

Also, for most hotkeys like this, there are buttons you'll see appear on the bottom toolbar. Some jobs have unique ones but most share a few. You can hover over them to see their function.
