Hey friends!

The time is here! This update has been quite the challenge for me. What started out as a rendering systems optimization re-write at Christmas turned into implementing the Tundra biome. Both were huge tasks for me, the former taking well over a month, and the latter another two! Thanks so much for patiently waiting for me to get this one out into the beta branch.

Before I explain the new temperature system, I just want to put out some warnings. First, this build is NOT backwards compatible with old saves. Second, the first few days of this will likely be fairly buggy. So, if you don't want to find bugs and report them, I'd strongly suggest waiting for this build to be tested and fixed up. I'll probably be putting it onto the production branch in a week or two. I already have a nice list of bugs which I wasn't able to get to, so I'll try to put out a hotfix patch this week for those and any that are reported.

Temperature. How does it work? What's t... Read more

When the job menu is open, right-click the job you want to cancel. Make sure you have the same job selected.

Have any suggestions for alternatives? The reason it's black is to hide things.

Hello friends!

This is just a quick update to let you know the beta update for the new Tundra biome is pretty much ready to go. I'm going to push it live this Monday, March 30th. The only things it will not have are the new events/underground discoveries. I didn't have time to add those and will be doing so while the new update is in beta. So, those will go in to version 0.9.1.0.

Other than that, it has loooots of new goodies. My Monday post will have a more detailed breakdown of everything that has been added.

There will be a week or two of fixing beta issues and adding some new events for Tundra following this update. I anticipate this update having a lot of strange bugs/issues because it introduces a lot of new systems. After that, I'll move everything to the production branch.

Once this Tundra update is o... Read more

Thanks very much for your feedback. I'll jot these down and keep them in mind for adding things in the future.

PS. You can settle on villages currently. They'll just attack you.

Getting the translations isn't the main challenge--though that's tough too--it's the implementation. The font and UI elements need to support all these various languages. Plus I'd need to provide a way for to players to change which language is shown and save that setting. Even getting the game to a point where players could mod the game to have different languages is a lot of work.

Make sure to search around the map for naturally growing plants which produce food. The tooltip will say if it's mature and what items it produces (when holding SHIFT). These will give you a nice boost. You can also make plant fiber broth at the campfire workstation which helps stave off hunger.

Fish don't need to be cooked to be eaten but cooking them will provide better buffs.

You might want to try going to the beta branch. There are some fixes there for FPS bugs. I also have a ton of FPS fixes coming in for the next version. Sorry about this issue!

The only real difference between floor and roof is the name. You can use either for a floor/roof. Also, holding ALT will let you place anything in the air, not just floors/roofs. :3

Currently migrating is one-way. In the future, we have plans to add a bunch of overworld map features like, raiding, scouting, trading, etc. However, you can start a new settlement on any previously established settlements. They'll just attack you.

Is the cabinet in a room? Some of the rooms (Tavern and Animal Enclosure) add their own zones, overwriting old ones. This might be happening for you. You can change this behaviour from the Room Edit panel. This feature will be removed soon because it's annoying as hell.

Combat is buggie on the production version. The beta is a tad better but can still be meh and needs lots of tuning. I'm going to keep adding to and improving it as much as possible.

We do have a burrow of sorts planned. It is called the Town Hall and when you ring the bell, designated settlers will go there.

It's actually just a bug that's fixed for the next upcoming version. Underground discoveries can be 'found' when light touches them. This would happen to deep underground dungeons because I had an issue where the coast waters would go all the way to the bottom of the world.

It's a safe bet that every category of the game will get additions over time. This next update after the one I'm about to push out will be a content heavy update where I'm going to focus on adding more items, recipes, things to build, events, as well as work on balance. :)

Thanks! Really glad you like it. Lots of work left but it has been a great game to work on. :)
