They do change the ambiance.

Not every skin, but some skins have new ambiance.

Cymanti seems like a cop out IMO. I think I’m most upset about the new maps, continents sucks. No little islands to find in weird places. And I wish you could still upgrade the ships. I also find myself on the massive map with all these villages to conquer and there’s no reason to build them up they’re just land filler basically. It’s definitely less interesting to me in some ways, but I’m adjusting

We added little islands to Continents and Pangea in the last update.

I also think the Ai-Mo lean more Andean than Tibetan, beyond the cities.

I, personally, like them!

Midjiwan says that he thinks they lean more Tibetan than Andean. :P

They're based on Buddhist monks.

I’ve heard that it is because all the other tribes rose up against them and defeated them in a war

This is the answer

Interesting. Well could’ve figured they are a different species. They live on a bunch of square worlds, Look all the same (as long as they’re one tribe), are as big as small villages, disappear after dying, can somehow transform into boats…

I mean, like, half of your examples are just game abstractions.

The Polytopians aren't as big as a city or turn into boats.

Wtf? are they bird, fish, reptiles or something else?

Nah, they're Polytopians.

That's the "family" they're a part of.

Thanks. I do have server connection issues somewhat often - but I also have bad wifi due to travels. Is it likely that there were server issues last few weeks or it's just my connection?

There's been persistent issues recently

We're working on it.

They do, but they fit that idea of "lost civilization coming back" and stuff.

What about something like a golem/robot tribe? It could be something like a lost civilization's machines being rediscovered, with those machines attempting to 'recreate' their creators' civilization.

You do know that the Ancients are confirmed as the next tribe, right?

The reason I've heard is that they want Vengir to be the only "Edgy" tribe (although in my opinion they broke that rule already with the Polaris and the Cymanti).

It's the type of edgy.

"Death and dark and doom and skulls and stuff" is pretty much Vengir. Polaris and Cymanti have their own forms of "dark", but not in the way of Vengir.

This idea of an undead tribe would be 100% Vengir's theme.

Can confirm that they lay eggs.

Yes, but they're not either of those.

Do the Iqaruz literally have tiny wings growing out of their back, or are they just trying to build flying machines and failing?

The latter. It's like cosplay.

To my understanding, what the Devs meant by "genderless" is that they reproduce asexually.

So the aquarion theory you presented doesn't make much sense

Yep...and the fact thay they're all the same sex.

Problem, though, is that Cloaks are considered severely underpowered in multiplayer matches. They're easy to defeat/counter, and few build them as it is.

To-Lï is the only one I’m a little confused about. Ai-Mo is like Peruvian with the llamas and stuff but To-Lï appears to be Asian inspired. All other tribes seem to share a similar region of origin except them.

Ai-Mo is explicitly a blend of Tibetan and Andean influence.

So, they're half-Asian, and this skin leans into that half.

It was given some loose terrain to encourage naval play.

Like, yeah, the big feature is the mainland, but now you can find a few sporadic islands to make the water a little more interesting.
