You could simply enable the Public Test and jump right back in your main savegame. Then test all stuff, etc. When the update gets pushed to the stable branch, nothing should change, except that you are now playing on stable again (you would have to manually switch branches of course).

The note to make backups is simply a safety measure and ... Read more

You can find all info regarding upcoming updates here:

And no, there is no release date for the update(s) and there probably will never be. This is in-line with Steam's Early Access Rules.

It's already over 4 hours old and I find no update on Steam?

We had planned to include it in our next blogpost, but it does of course make a lot of sense to make a pinned post about it in the meanwhile so that people here can find it earlier! Thank you for pointing that out :)

Not every little news will get published on Steam. We will probably start to create pinned threads when new information gets released somewhere else.

You won't get in trouble for modding the game. However, mods are not officially supported nor licensed in any way. That means you could potentially download malware, break the game and so on.

I suggest sticking to known mods and widely used mod managers and websites like Nexusmods and Thunderstore.

The Yule Tree is one of the seasonal items. Will probably be disabled soon (since it's Feb now).

These small updates are pre-compiled GPU Shader downloads, caused by a Steam setting called "Shader Pre-Caching". Shaders help Vulkan and OpenGL games to load faster and improve framerate stability during gameplay.

If you wish to disable this option, just disable Shader Pre-Caching here:
Steam > Settings > Shader Pre-Caching

That's true. Iron Gate is not a big company. There's reason number one why things take a bit longer. And yes, they have already hired multiple new devs.

Honestly, most of the "hacking" that's taking place nowadays is Social Engineering. Stuff like the DS3 exploit are the exception I'd roughly guess.

What DS3 exploit?

Never heard of a single case where players were able to steal confidential information from another just because they were on the same server.

Edit: Ah, you were referring to Dark Souls it seems. Anyway, this game has nothing to do with Valheim, it uses another engine. In general, just because players can steal information in one game, doesn't mean that they can do it in another game. I understand your concerns tho.

Thank you for the suggestion. This has been discussed before.

The devs will post a Blog Post every 4 weeks. The first one in 2022 will get released very soon!
