In September 1939, 81 years ago, the H.39 "Cambronne" appeared for the first time. The "Cambronne" belonged to the 14th Battle Tanks Battalion of the French Army. The Battalion with these tanks saw combat at the river Oise, to little effect, until they retreated back to Paris.

In September 1942, 78 years ago, the Vought F4U-1A (USMC) Corsair made its first flight. This variant was given to the USMC as a land based fighter, with carrier operation devices removed. First combat by the USMC's was against the Japanese Airfield Kahili and Zero fighters.

In 1966, 53 years ago, the AMX-13/90 first appeared. Sporting a newly mounted 90mm F3 medium-pressure gun in a FL-10 series turret, it was more effective in firing HEAT ammunition, as well as having a higher muzzle velocity than the Panhard AML-90.

In September, 81 years ago, the Pz.III F first appeared. The Pz.III F was an improved E variant with a modified engine, armor changes and a 50 mm cannon. It saw its first major use during Operation Barbarossa where it was able to take on the venerable T-34.

In 1921, 99 years ago, the P.7.T AA appeared for the first time. 4 x 13.2 mm guns were fitted onto a P4T chassis. This was developed for the French and Chilean Army. However, due to serious issues in trials, such as a poor engine and other issues, the P.7.T was cancelled in 1929.
In September, 76 years ago, Fw 190 D-9 production began. The Fw 190 D series was created for high altitude bomber interception by fitting a new engine resulting in a long nose. Despite this, the D-9 was mostly used for ground attack and dogfights due to the war's circumstances.

In September 1943, 77 years ago, the KV-85 appeared for the first time. Designed as a stopgap tank, the KV-85 was fitted with a 85 mm gun in a modified turret on a KV-1 chassis, with only 148 built. It was replaced by IS series tanks, after a limited combat experience.
