The World of Warcraft community is second to none with the passion, love, and excitement you all show to the game. Player feedback impacts all aspects of the game, and with such a wide range of opinions, playstyles, and interests out there, gathering and understanding feedback is more important than ever.

To help further our efforts in this area, we’re introducing the WoW Community Council. This program will add another venue for communication between players and WoW developers. Our goal is to gather more detailed feedback on all aspects of World of Warcraft from players around the world with a wide range of backgrounds and interests.

In what proved to be a scary-good Global Finals, Echo prevailed as the champion with $150,000 (USD) prizing and the Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) gold medals!

The most winning team in MDI history, and now four-time champions, Echo has continued their incredible run after defeating Aster.Y 3-1 in the MDI Global Finals. Aster.Y, the first team out of China to make a top 2 in MDI history, will receive the silver medals while Ambition, winners of the Season 2 Last Stand Tournament to qualify for the Global Finals, will take home bronze. Greetings, denizens of Azeroth! My name is Jeff Liu, and I’m a Senior UI Designer on the World of Warcraft User Interface Team. I’m here to share some insights into the Character Creation redesign that launched with Shadowlands. With all the great new customization options that have been introduced recently, we thought this was a great time to pull back the curtain and show off a bit more of the behind-the-scenes design choices we’ve made to the user interface (UI).

I previously worked on the Transmogrification System and Auction House redesigns. Revamping old UIs is by far my favorite type of project, so I was incredibly excited to redesign the Character Creation screen.

We’re thrilled to announce details for the second competitive dungeon one-off tournament of the year, as The Great Push returns for Season 2, December 10-12! 

One of our core goals this year has been to push the boundaries of what competitive dungeon-running can look like, to look beyond the standard formats of the Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) to see how we can expand PVE Competition. In May we introduced the first-ever The Great Push, challenging teams to push keystones as high as possible within a limited time, with community and player response exceeding what we could have hoped.

For Season 2 we are evolving The Great Push to make it even better than before! We’re once again asking teams to push Keystones across six dungeons; in addition to four from Shadowlands, we are time walking all the way back to Legion for the remaining two! With the release of the 9.1.5 content update, players will have access to new character customizations for select races allowing you to create a new version of your hero to take on the dangers of Azeroth. These new character customization options will be available for Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, Nightborne, and Void Elves in character creation and with a visit to the in-game Barber. You'll be able to choose new jewelry, new tattoos, new hairstyles, and more.

We will launch new WoW Classic realms for Season of Mastery. These realms will invite new and current Classic players to begin fresh at level 1 for a complete reset of WoW Classic’s content, starting again at the very beginning of the World of Warcraft saga.

What’s different in WoW Classic Season of Mastery?

As with the first release of WoW Classic, we’re planning six content release phases. In WoW Classic Season of Mastery, however, phase unlocks will happen faster. We’re planning for a 12-month cadence, with phases unlocking roughly every couple months. Here’s the current outline for the six phases:

Over the last few weeks, artists and writers across the WoW team have updated a small number of old quests, art assets, names, and dialogue that we identified as outdated and inconsistent with our values as a team. These updates are a relatively small part of a comprehensive, company-wide effort to improve the WoW team and Blizzard as a whole, but they’re important to us as developers.

In early August, we set up internal channels where the WoW team could share feedback on content that doesn't represent who we are as a team today. During this time, we also gathered a great deal of feedback from players on practically every aspect of the game. The player feedback influenced many gameplay improvements we’re working on for patch 9.1.5, and our internal feedback identified some in-game content that is inconsistent with our goal of building an inclusive and welcoming game world.

The Arena World Championship (AWC) Grand Finals came to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday, September 26 as Method NA and Horizon secured their spots as the 2021 Regional Champions!

After two incredible seasons, AWC concluded 2021 with some of the most thrilling Arena matches we have seen in it’s storied fourteen-year history. Horizon secured the EU Regional title while Method NA retained the NA title, with each winning team taking home gold medals as well as $70,000 (USD) each out of the $300,000 global prize pool.
