btw I bought the season two pass, do I need to buy LoL again when it relesses?
You do not! Once it is out, you can just download Land of Lions. Thanks for supporting us, and buying the Season 2 Pass :)

Well, at least I am wearing a mask in that gif, and should be commended for my social responsibility :p
The tiniest crumb, you say? There is another big new gameplay system besides the already announced irrigation.
And we will likely detail Game Update 9 before we talk about Land of Lions.
That’s two crumbs right there!
In the DLC that is coming
There is a NDA on the Technical Test. It would be very sad if in the future we should have to reconsider doing early tests because participants cannot respect a simple NDA.

On the Epic store I noticed the new Amusement park DLC content pack is free if you have purchased the Season 2 pass. However this does not seem to be the case for the actual Ubisoft Launcher, which is where I have my copy of Anno 1800 with Season 1 and the Season 2 pass. Why is this the case? This is bad business practice and bad for your customers that have shown dedication by downloading your brand launcher.
Thank you
That’s if another Anno game will even come out. I’m afraid that Anno 1800 would be the last one of the series, quite like when SimCity 2013 came out; and that was the last SimCity game ever made.
Now if the devs do decide to make another Anno game, I hope it would be set in the 1900s. I like the old, but not too old setting. I think the 1900s fit well because the last Anno game before Anno 1800 was already set in the future. Also, the 1900s have an interesting blend of old and “modern” technology.
I would be shocked if there would not be a next Anno :) Just as I would be shocked if it was set in the 20th century.
I think you may be mixing up two different topics. Performance is of course always a concern for us as developers, and we are always looking for ways to find the right balance between a comfortable gameplay experience, and the attention to detail and lively worlds that Anno is know for.
With that said, we consider limited space a key part of Anno gameplay, with the tetris-esque chase to see if you can maybe further optimize your layouts to squeeze out a few dozen more vacant tiles to place houses on being as old as the series itself. This is also evident from the countless user tips and suggestions about the best layouts for different production chains and industries.
In summary: technology advances and gives developers more options, but not all limitations are purely technical. Sometimes it is just a case of restrictions making for interesting gameplay and choices the player has to make.
Is there a chance? Sure! There are plenty of ideas that could have a chance to happen in the future. The only thing we have said for now is that another futuristic Anno is unlikely, as we just did two of them, and we really enjoyed working in a historically-inspired setting again with 1800.
Beyond that, who knows!
Ubisoft doesn't make the games. Blue Byte makes the games, Ubisoft only publishes them. Credit where credit is due.
There seems to be a misconception here- we ARE Ubisoft (and have been since 2013, when the Related Designs studio was fully acquired). In fact, our studios name is no longer Blue Byte, but Ubisoft Mainz.
So the whole black and white thinking between publisher and developer doesn't really apply here, as it is all the same company.
Oh wow, an official reply to a confused user!
Thanks for clearing that up!
My pleasure :)
Read moreComplicated game. Generally seems like Anno team does a reasonable job trying to make things smooth. Also appreciate the extra little details: the people movements, being able to interact with things in first person view. etc.
While the public versions definitely do have bugs (esp quests), for such a big and complex game, most I've encountered are totally reasonable.
If I can pass a few suggestions:
Please make it possible to open World's Fair menu from afar. (When the investor announces its over, at the very least there should be a "go-to" button.) (Even better, if you can simply click on a button to go into the World's Fair menu and confirm rewards [might be good here to have the interface show WHICH island this Fair is], and even even better, if you can start up your next choice of Fair) All of this without leaving the comfort of where-ever I was looking and building before hand, ex New World.
#2: Please make accepting specialist visitors e...
Suggestion #2 sounds rather interesting.
I do not expect that we will announce more details, or a date for land of Lions this month, no.
Being a college professor myself, I decided to make pretty campuses so my students and faculty can have a more pleasurable learning environment. And the surrounding community can use them as parks also, and maybe interact more with academic society. :D
Very cool, that seems like a very interesting topic...
Is this a joke about the naming convention?
I don't think it's a joke, I think it's a legitimate point. The devs are all in on the number 9 convention; I don't see them dropping that just to do something in the 20th century when there are still other interesting options.
We have actually repeatedly said that we would have no qualms about dropping the "convention of 9" (or even numbers in general) if it didn't suit the game we want to make :)
