Just stepping in here to correct some statements.

Our artists have used "photobashing" to create assets in the game. With this technique, an artist can create a starting point by combining photos, 3d-models and hand-painted images, then paint over it and modify it to their needs and designs. The materials used are fully... Read more

Hi, as already kindly pointed out by Evil Factory, we're remaking all the loading screens that previously used AI and expect to have AI-free loading screens live in the game next spring. (Unfortunately we were not able to finish them all in time for the Winter Update.)

I'd also like to reiterate that where we have used AI in the loading screens, it has either been painted over, as previously stated, or in other cases, AI has been applied over a hand-painted image e.g. to change the tone – in other words, AI-generated images are not used anywhere as-is, and soon, they will not be used in the game at all.

Hi!

We are actually working on an update focusing mainly on performance optimizations, here's a message I posted on a different thread about this topic:

I can't give a specific release date for the update yet, as there is still much to test and improve, but you can expect it to arrive before the end of the year.

Smooth sailing! (hopefully even smoother after the update :captainsmooth: )

Hi!

This is actually planned for the next update, we've received feedback about this for a while and decided to change it now.

Here's a link to the issue on GitHub:

The way the book works now is that it gives an amount of skill proportional to the number of kills the "writer" of the book got during the round. It seems though that often the amount of skill you get is less than 1 (meaning it's just progress towards the next whole skill level), in which case there's no notification about the skill increase.

It also seems that the amount of kills you need to get any meaningful skill increase seems to be pretty high now. We'll look into improving this, sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi, sorry to dampen the mood, but a space update is not planned and I don't believe we've made any statements about such. Over the years we have participated in various player discussions regarding Europa surface exploration or probably even spaceflight, but to do these meaningfully would essentially mean making a whole new game, so it's very unlikely we would add these in the game.

We do have other cool things still planned for Barotrauma, even substantial additions, and we hope you'll like those when the time comes!

I took a quick look at this, and unfortunately could not get the issue to occur - the pressure ratings protection does seem to match the value in the suit's description. My first guess would've been that it's caused by a mod too, but if you're not using any mods, the issue must be somewhere else.

Since we haven't run into this issue ourselves and it doesn't seem to be a widespread bug, I suspect that it requires some more specific circumstances to occur. Perhaps some specific combination of items and afflictions that alter the pressure protection or something along those lines. If you can provide any more clues that might help us diagnose the problem, could you please submit a report using the link above? It would also help others who may have encountered the issue to chip in. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience!

Let's not call OP out, that's unnecessary. I know there are players here who dislike reporting on Github, and that's probably not going to change :) we do read the forums for bug reports too, but it's largely just me and our other community manager doing that, whereas Github is read by programmers directly.

Hi, if you haven't already, it would be great if you reported this in the GitHub discussions. I will also pass this along already, but bug reports are much easier for us to handle there, and other players can also upvote the issue to show that they have the same problem. Hi! Sorry for the trouble. We're aware of the issue, it was recently reported in our GitHub: https://github.com/FakeFishGames/Barotrauma/discussions/13847#top

If you have a GitHub account, please give the report an upvote. You can also keep tabs on the issue's progress there. We'll work to address the issue soon, but unfortunately I can't give a clear ETA on our next hotfix/patch yet.

Update: the hotfix is now live, and your bots should respawn normally again following a restart. Find the list of changes here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/602960/view/4181105297285388664

Hi, sorry for the trouble, everyone. We've taken steps to address the issue being exploited here and will release the fix soon. This should prevent further uses of this exploit to crash servers.

Hi!
This sounds like it could be the same issue as in this topic: https://steamcommunity.com/app/602960/discussions/1/3811785047382767441/

So in short, check the server settings and see if the ragdoll option has been unchecked. If it is, enable it and see if that fixes the issue.

There are keyboard shortcuts for assigning orders, for example you can press middle mouse button > 3 > 2 to assign a crew member to fix leaks, there's a priority system as to which bot receives the order mechanics being the first then engineers and so on, this depends of the type of order.

There is also a priority system on the types or orders a bot has as each bot can have up to 3 active orders the management orders are highest priority like fix leaks, repair devices or even cleanup then comes the operate orders like operate weapons or reactor so with the keyboard shortcuts you can... I unfortunately I can't think of any changes to the reactor/power logic in the recent updates that could've caused this. The only tangentially related change was making the reactor not automatically turn of automatic control when it's shut down (as a safeguard, otherwise it can be easy to forget to turn it back on if you toggle the reactor on and off), but I doubt that's related here.

I would maybe suggest trying to pinpoint the cause of the load on the status monitor. I also wonder if there could be something harmful on board the sub that's causing those load spikes - in a vanilla game it could be ballast flora (although you probably would've noticed that!), but if you're using mods it could be something else too. In any case, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, I hope you can figure out what's causing it! And if you can't, a bug report in our ... Read more
