Setting it in the launcher ought to set it in the game too!

I've recommended that change to dozens of people before and never had that happen, I have frankly no idea why it had that effect on you. It might be worth drilling down on that with any Windows or ISP support you might have access to.

If nothing ever gets up near 80c then overheating is not the problem. Which is a shame as it's often the easiest thing to fix!

That settings file seems to show that the refresh rate is not capped - did you set it at 60? What actual rate are you seeing in the game?

Assuming that doesn't help, please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here please.

Then, run Task Manager in Windows, go into Performance. Run the game from Steam and in the launcher Game Settings area put the game in Windowed mode and lower the resolution so you can see TM as you play the game.

When you get this lagging, can you see what component is getting high util in time with the lags - GPU, CPU, IO, network, memory - anything?

Can I get new copies of these file splease, since the changes
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)

2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

First please unload GeForce Experience if running.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Is that any better? test with a new campaign, not any existing one, and with ALL mods disabled.

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters
Go to Windows Control panel.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
Click on Change adapter options.
Right-click all network adapters that are not connected to the internet and select the Disable option.

I am sorry then, I cannot think of anything else to look at here. I think this is an interaction with this game and something in Window sor hardware here, but we so no clues anywhere as to what.

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam
OR
- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the Epic client

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Note that you can run ck3.ex... Read more

I don't recall any previous such reports, no.

At first glance it seems like a hardware or Windows issue. Has it always happened since you've had this game?

Does it happen in any of our other games? Games from other publishers?

What I mean is, my recommendation was to keep it set to 60 while we work on this, but it is set to 165. Is that because 60 causes a problem of some sort? Or you just want to see a higher fps?

In any case I don't feel we are any closer to seeing why this is happening on this computer. As it only happened with the new hardware, that's where our suspicion should lie, but what specifically I cannot see.

If there is any overclocking set up on this machine, try undoing that.

You are right, there is no separate console page for this game (unlike say Stellaris). Whether that is an omission or a deliberate decision I have no idea, I'm sorry.

Is there some problem keeping this set to 60?

Ouch! I am sorry that happened but it's a pretty clear indication there's a fundamental problem in Windows on this machine. Time for a Reset or clean wipe and reinstall, I'm afraid!

If you are not experienced in such things you might get professional help for that, including making sure you have backups of your irreplaceable documents and photos.

Do I correctly understand it has not been reported in the Bug Reports forum here? Because that is the best place.

I think the two issues are actually the same problem.

Sorry I pasted in the wrong game files! Obviously I meant the logs etc from CK3.

There's no crash in this game recorded in that dxdiag, but there are some possible Windows issues. Please run these two Windows repair tools, see if they find anything to fix.

Your browser? Discord? Wow, this looks like a weird one.

Did you run those two Windows repair utilities I linked above? If so did they find anything to fix? You don't mention them either way.

... but it came good for you after December, up until now? Is that right?

Can you connect that machine to the internet via a VPN or even mobile phone hotspot, for testing purposes, and see if it will log in then?

I guess I don't understand how you can have had a problem while playing the game, when you couldn't start the game! And you said in post #2 above this only happened when you upgraded the PC and applied the 1.8.2 patch, which was well after you started that previous thread.

In any case, let's press on. Let's have a new look at the setup. DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log .

I can ping my manager in Paradox about this, but I can do nothing myself about diagnosing it or getting it fixed I'm afraid!

I take it you've posted in Bug Reports in detail?
