The minimum requirement for this game is MacOS 10.14.

However the more likely cause is if your Mac only has an Intel video system, which has never been supported hardware for this game. With recent patches that requirement is more strictly needed I'm afraid!

Refunds can only come from the store you bought it from.

If that was our store, lodge a refund ticket at paradox.zendesk.com . If elsewhere, please contact that store.

All the best!

Sorry for pasting in the wrong game! Running too many issues at once :D

Unfortunately Windows error 0xc000012d doesn't have a clear cause, what what I can find online.

That system.log shows the game thinks you have WIndows 8.1, so I guess you've set ck3.exe to Win8.1 compatibility mode? Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Your video setup is a bit unusual - that dxdiag shows your monitor's native refresh rate is 40, yet Windows is running at 165! Vsnc is still enabled in the game, yet its refresh rate cap is set to 40. What fps do you see in the game? Not that these issues would normally cause the problem you are seeing.

What if you make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that? Run ck3.exe direct... Read more

Debug mode changes the checksum, so remove that launch option if you have it there.

Otherwise Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

That is a standard folder that Windows automatically creates for every user, so yes our launcher and games assume it is there.

There isn't one; you set that up in Steam preferences.

Those temperatures are okay, problems start at around 80c. Which is a shame as that's the easiest hardware problem to fix!

If GeForce Experience is running that can make the game perform worse; unload it before starting the game. Any better?

Nitrotic said: What happens when I try running the CK3 exe directly is what I described. The launcher throws up the exit null code,
Running ck3.exe does not involve the launcher at all. Are you perhaps using a desktop shortcut or something? The idea is that you double click on ck3.exe directly in File Explorer. It is in Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3/binaries/

That dxdiag shows no crashes in ck3.exe , but AppHangs instead.

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters
Go to Windows Control panel.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
Click on Change adapter options.
Right-click all network adapters that are not connected to the internet and select the Disable option.

That sounds like a video driver or hardware fault, or overheating.

What fps do you see in the game just before it crashes now?

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ in the main game menu
3/ AND just before it crashes, if possible
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

It's hard to see how that's possible, to be honest. Are you 100% sure there were no files or folders left under the Steam Documents CK3 location in particular, before installing again?

Make a new Windows user on this computer and log into Windows with that. Does it work there?

Please don't update old threads, start your own new one in future, thanks. The game has changed a lot since last year.

The pdx_settings you uploaded does not reflect that, Vsync is on for instance. Turn that off and enable the refresh rate cap of 60. Any better?

Do they show in our launcher's DLC tab as enabled?

If so I have no real explanation for them showing as missing in that save, except some sort of save game file corruption.

Can you start and play a new campaign with them okay? And save, exit and reload that new save?

As you can see that is a Windows error. That DLL is part of Visual C++ so something is wrong in that area.

First go to the Windows control panel and uninstall all instances of Visual C++ 2010 and 2015/17/19/22 - there may be several of each. No need to touch any others.

THEN Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

What happens if you run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer? Do you get any clearer Windows error then?

If not: Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If that doesn't help:

Thanks for those files, but I asked for the actual save game file so we can see if it happens here too.

Norton's were able to help you, were they?

But yes, I'd test for any progress by starting a new campaign. If you still get this problem, can you be more specific about what event in the game you feel is causing this? A screenshot then maybe?

I'm not a Windows support expert I'm sorry, nor do I use Nortons. I'll do my best but you may need local help, it seems.

Contact Norton support for how to except a .exe in their software, and indeed how to prevent it doing realtime scans of the game's folders
Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3

To unload GeForce Experience you right click on it in your task bar and select Quit or Exit.
