We’re still investigating the exact cause although this doesn’t appear to be DDoS related.

Interesting suggestion about the in-game notification for technical issues, I’ll bring it up.

The chat servers should now be operating properly again. If you still have any blank chat windows (eg. corp chat) relogging may fix it.


We are aware of a problem with chat not functioning on Tranquility. We are working on it now and will keep you updated.

Important update: Players have reported that installing Windows update KB3004394 resolves this issue. This update from Microsoft addresses certificate issues.

Interesting to hear that upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 resolves the issue; were the Windows 7 installations with all latest updates from Microsoft and the system default browser at the latest version?

BTW, this is only affecting very few customers and therefore only a small portion of Windows 7 users.

Thanks for the support for our ISDs in here you guys, I’ve been working with them quite a bit and I know it can be a tough job at times. As for the suggestions to increase their moderation power - we have things in the works so they won’t always have to wait for us to respond to deal with issues like today.

A wise man once said, or just a hero’s phrase, “With great power, comes great responsibility”; while anyone can apply to become ISD, not everyone has the mindset to fulfill the responsibility which they are choosing to take on.

If you are a customer of WOW! then I want to recommend that you send in a support request to WOW! and ask them in turn to contact Cloudflare support, who have been trying to reach them for the past few days.
