Jokes aside, holy shit in particular the final build up in that song might be my favorite segment of anything ever

Hell yeah, I personally love Aftershock a ton -- the 2nd verse "the very nature of the animal you've cornered" is so beautifully brutal and the band are gods for that one.

Do you like listening to music

Yes! I'm always listening to something when I'm not in meetings.

No question, I just wanna say that I am amazed of how this year was full of music produced by you guys, we had Pentakill III: Lost Chapter, Arcane and Sessions:Diana.

Let's not forget about Hextech Mayhem and Ruined King games too they also had amazing music.

This has been an amazing year and you all contributed in making it better so thank you.

It blows my mind we got to do, like, close to 100 songs this year. Please do not take us 10xing our previous year's output as a sign we'll do 1000 songs in 2022 XD

For my first playthrough I picked the character I like the most, which is best girl Lohse (who also has a great song late in the game), on later, more optimized runs I picked Sebille and Fane for Flesh Sacrifice and Time Warp respectively.

Absolutely going to carve out time to do a WL3, DOS2, Disco Elysium, and Baldur's Gate 2 run in the next year.

Love Loshe a ton. I legit think the hardest part of that game is trying to figure out what character you want as your main vs. party member.

I also loved that you could just take drugs (a gas IIRC?) with some enemies and get a huge buff for the next fight, plus the Battle Hymn of the Republic is just awesome!

Only sad thing is that you can't play it as 4 people Co-Op even though you have 4 characters running around...

Oh I have a concept for a perpetually (PERPETUUM) drunk melee ranger with a sword for surrrrre.

I was the Creative Lead on Drum Go Dum's music video! I think a big lesson there was how much people value seeing a champion and a character doing their thing, above the more conceptual stuff we tried to do there. The dancer Bailey Sok is amazing and I did really enjoy how much people appreciated her even if they had criticisms for the MV. But yes, as someone who's worked on a lot of the video content of the last few years, that was a good learning experience personally and something I'd like to really show up on next time we give Kai'Sa her moment.

How do you decide which genere of music youre making next? Just what you think would fit or are there rules?

It's a really good question and a complex one. I'll try to hit a part of it:

One thing we value is not being stagnant or chasing trends. Which, sure, is a great idea in theory but the difficult part comes when you consider how fast music moves and what that means in practice.

I think what we all value is taking whatever genre space we're working in and making sure we put our own spin on it; our own interpretation of the sound that's agnostic of a specific time and space. What makes K/DA work IMO is that it has 80s elements, it avoided an overly trap-based sound (I love trap btw), and sort of took a route that felt a bit like a classic/modern mix. Pentakill's latest album had the same mentality, in a more overt way I think.

In terms of picking genres, it's complicated and we're going through that process right now on plenty of fronts. But yeah, from what I've seen and experienced as a non-composer: I think the best answer to your question is "don't be dated, ...

Hey! First of all, loving all you're doing :D

I had two question that I wanted to ask, if you're still reading through some.

1) Lots of us have noticed that the end of Ruined King was reused for the end of Viego's theme. Let's call this the Harrowing leitmotiv. But I noticed some time later that this very melody had also been used for the end of the 2016 Harrowing theme.

Seeing that blew me away and made me wonder, what was the thought process behind this all? What order did these things come in? Did you look back at the 2016 track when making Blade of the Ruined King and thought that you could reuse this leitmotiv? Or was Blade of the Ruined King already underway at the time?

2) How early did you come to the idea of using only string instruments for Gwen's theme?

Hi! As I recall, we were working on Blade of the Ruined King before Harrowing 2016, even though BotrK came out later. We did notice that there was some similarity between the two, but it didn't really bother us - didn't seem that out of place for there to be a little bit of linkage between the two.

Kole's decision to call back to that moment from BotrK was very intentional, and I think it worked super well. It's changed enough to really fit in with the language of the new Viego composition, while still having its source be recognizable.

How much of an impact Mako has in the production? This guy is featured in nearly every banger you release.

He's amazing and we're lucky to have him involved in as many projects as he is! I particularly enjoyed getting to work alongside him on the score side of Arcane, as it's something he hasn't had the opportunity to do as much of but that he has fantastic instincts for.

What are your guys' favorite non-riot video games?

Late reply, but I love Stardew Valley, Transistor, Pyre, and I'm currently working my way through Spiritfarer and Cozy Grove. I've also had a lot of fun playing through WoW Classic and Shadowlands in retail (team The Ascended!). I also play Beatsaber at least a few times a week!

The true legends are the folks in this community still rocking with us. It's something we treasure, and I hope we continue to make music you want to keep listening to.

Supergiant Games! Darren Korb's work is incredible.

Edit: hit enter too fast! I'm particularly fond of Transistor and Pyre, and both soundtracks fit each emotion in those games perfectly.

I'm sure there's a lot you all can't disclose right now about current projects- so definitely just answer what you can.

Do you all currently have plans on any future league Groups? (Like PK, TD, and KDA)

Is your usually your decision or the narrative team's choice on what champion's become part of the group? (Though I'm sure it's likely more of a collaborative decision, was curious who had the penultimate decision)

What does your involvement for music videos look like? Do you all provide a story board per se and do the editing, or is most of that outsourced?

How many projects do you all usually work on at the same time?

Thank you all so much for all your hard work. It's always been hard for me to even explain to friends who don't know league what art you all created, but now I've been able to by forcing them to watch Arcane.

I'm excited see how much you all grow over the years.

Stay awesome.

I can only answer the last question! It depends on the time of the year, but I typically work on 3-5 projects at one time. I can have varying responsibilities for each, so some may not take up a lot of my bandwidth per week.

edit: forgot a word!
