We've been talking about building out a system that will only match you up with nearby people and find the best server to play on as well. Right now all the traffic routes through a server in the US, so if you or another player in your game is far away from there, you're going to notice it.

I'll keep you posted!

Hi bร…d! I'm sorry to hear that MageQuit is giving you connectivity issues. Do you mind me asking where you are playing from? Currently our main branch is pointing at a server in East US, and I know this can cause issues for people playing far away geographically. Photon (the networking system we use) has servers all over the globe though, and we are working on a way for players to either be able to choose their server or for it to auto-pick, so I think this will help your situation a lot. We recently tested a server based in Melbourne for some players in Australia who reported that it helped them immensely.

As far as lag issues after stage 5, this is the first I've heard of this, and I can't think of any systems in the game that could consistently cause this. However, if it happens to you again, it would be useful to me if you were to submit a bug report in game (pause, and triple-click the top left of the screen) because that will send me logs from your game so I can se... You can find them here: http://magequit.com/patches ! It was a very minor patch, so I didn't want to fire off an announcement to everyone :)

Quick update for you Blondi3! Last night we tested an AU relay server for a group of 6 playing in Australia and it improved their response times very significantly. This was the first step in confirming that we can point at a different server and that it actually helps. It looks like Photon has a server in Johannesburg, so once I fully implement this feature, you guys will be able to use that one :)

So it turns out there was an update to Windows that caused this problem.

From the Rewired patch notes:
- Updated Xbox One Controller definition for breaking changes caused by Windows 10 2004 update on Windows Standalone and Windows UWP platforms with Raw Input and Direct Input with Use XInput disabled.

I've updated Rewired for MageQuit in my local build and that appears to have fixed it.
This fix will be in the next patch :)

Interesting. I wonder if the Rewired library changed at all to cause this issue. I've heard similar reports that xinput off just makes controllers not work. I also wonder if this means more than 4 controllers are supported on steam link now ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Hey @maximus1245!

That sounds pretty similar to airship (the idea of separating players until they win their matchup). It's one of the newer maps, so I'm not sure if you've played it ๐Ÿ˜

Hi Blondi3! Unfortunately, at the moment our only relay server is US East region, however we are using Photon, and they have relay servers all over the world, so I should be able to give players a way to select a closer server at LEAST for party only games. How does that sound? Worth me looking into?

Right now there isn't a way to play with bots in couch mode or practice range, but based on player requests this weekend, I definitely want to add it now :)

Hi Marcus!

So short answer is no. We do not have bots for training or when online is unavailable to you, but we do have training mode where you can practice all the spells and you can play locally with friends. If your concern is not getting in a match online, our matchmaking system is quite robust so that shouldn't be an issue for you unless your concern is bad/unreliable internet.

Bots for local play is a great idea and definitely on our todo list though!

Thanks,
Brett
