We will be performing scheduled maintenance on September 9th, 2019 at 8 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC) to deploy the 0.18.01.00 game update. Maintenance is expected to last approximately one hour.

No downtime is expected. Players who are logged in prior to the start of maintenance are encouraged to restart their client once the game update is available. For all other players, the game will automatically update the next time Magic: The Gathering Arena is launched.

Patch notes will be available once maintenance is complete.

We are currently investigating and working on the performance issues. To help us figure out what is exactly happening we need players to submit the type of performance issue they're experiencing (generally low FPS, unexplained dips, etc) and their system specs and driver versions. The best place to send us that information is here, https://...

@Holgman:

These problems can be seen every day at any MTG-Youtuber: jerking, hanging when laying cards, various disconnections, problems to select the blocker, etc., etc., etc. Many of these youtubers also complain openly in their videos about these bugs and the generally bad performance of the game.

These people earn some of their livelihood with these videos. They will all have bad hardware and a bad Internet connection?

I don`t think so.

But it is, as it always is, the customer / player is to blame.

In no way did I blame the player. I am saying that said player needs to submit a detailed bug report so we can try to see what is happening. Unfortunately just stating “your game is lagging you need to fix it” doesn’t help us actually diagnose the problem/possibly fix it.

There should be no dependency, though. If Frogify is there first, Alela does not have flying and so can't gain indestructible. If Sephara is there first, she gains indestructible and then loses it to Frogify. The outcome should be no flying, no indestructible either way. The only situation where you could have a dependency is when you have something that only takes away the conditional ability, like Sky Tether taking away flying. Then you probably should apply dependency rules to avoid getting a non-flying indestructible Alela.

There is a dependency, even if either ordering should result in the same outcome: Sephara does [flying -> indestructible], Frogify removes all abilities including flying without any requirement. Therefore, all else being equal, Frogify's effect should apply first because it affects the "input" of Sephara's effect without caring about its output.

613.7a An effect is said to “depend on” another if (a) it’s applied in the same layer (and, if applicable, sublayer) as the other effect (see rules 613.1 and 613.3); (b) applying the other would change the text or the existence of the first effect, what it applies to, or what it does to any of the things it applies to; and (c) neither effect is from a characteristic-defining ability or both effects are from characteristic-defining abilities.

Frogify changes what Sephara applies to. #wotc_staff

I would have the devs check the 900 series GeForce cards, i.e. 980Ti. There's a leak of some sort, in that the player avatars (as you're matched) start to stutter. You can also see this in the transitions for deck building.
This is remedied by a restart of the client.
There was a late-August driver update from nVidia which I applied, but no change.
I'm specific about the GPU reference because some folks don't have the issue, even with lower end rigs. They may have a 20x series card.

Very interesting! I was running a 970 with no performance issues, but I may be an outlier. I'll bring it up to the devs. Thanks for the suggestion!

Right now I just attacked with lethal on my final win for the Brawl event and the game ran MY rope down and is just sitting there with an orange haze.
I don't know if the game is lagging, my opponent went AFK or I disconnected. Thanks a lot.

It's just sitting at the end of the first rope and no doing anything else. I wish this game would have a way to tell if I am the one that disconnected or what just happened.
I can interact on my side fine, but my guys refuse to finish the attack.

I just tried to send a report and after typing everything and adding the log and a screenshot, the site won't let me log in. I click the link and it gives me a pop u...

I too have experienced nothing but increased lag with each new set.
When I first started playing MTGA it was pretty smooth but now it is extreme lag all of the time. This is not my PC or internet connection, it is your game. Stop being so cheap and fix the issues WoTC.
Again, performance issues are VERY hard to pinpoint/reproduce. Please report them so we can look into it and be as specific as you can. Saying "my performance is worse, fix the issues" doesn't tell us anything.
Yes, but the fact that the lag seems to increase with each new addition should give you all a heads up that your server is too bogged down with crap and should give you an idea of what to look for.
Listen to the players, read between the lines and the answer will come.
Ignore the obvious and the issues will increase.

There's a new sound loop. If you take close to full time during sideboard, the roping sound will start playing and doesn't go away when you click done. You'll have to finish the match and then restart the client to fix it.
Another bug: sometimes, some cards show a smaller font card name.
Experiencing performance drops more often as well, which also only get fixed by restarting the client.
Hopefully a small patch will fix these things soon.

Report these via our support link, please! (or these bugs may have been already reported there)

Patch to the Game Rules Engine. Doing one of these currently involves taking down all of our match servers to update the engine, so we try to do it only at scheduled intervals. #wotc_staff

When I click on the banner of the pre-order pack,
You need to go instead to the store. There's the same item but also a ?-button that will tell you the contents.
I don't have the offer in the store, either. Is that the thing again where they messed up with the localization in the past and Europeans couldn't get the package? In that case, yeah, at least there is a furped up way for me to get it in time :)

Are you not seeing it in game? Or the website? What region are you from?

Yaaay, I fixed it. As many in the comments here allude to, the problem was with dependency detection between "losing all abilities" and any effect that gives an ability if you have some ability (e.g. Sephara, or Kwende).

Because no dependency was detected, the effects assumed that the application of one of them would have no impact on which objects were affected by the other. So Sephara and Frogify both started thinking they applied to Alela, and after Frogify applied Sephara didn't recheck.

Detecting the dependency fixes the issue. Our next GRE patch is still a ways away, but this will be fixed in it. #wotc_staff

And that is something you should let our support team know about! They can try to see what is wrong, help you troubleshoot, and pass along the issue to the devs if it is something that they need to know about.
I told them... Hours ago. They told me to reinstall. And closed the ticket.
I reinstalled. The problem remains. So, that was a whole big waste of time.
And, yes. I've already let them know just how useful their suggestion was.
The fact remains. The game was playable. You patched the game. Now, it's unplayable.

Then reply to the email and let them know (nicely) that you're still having issues. They can look into it further and possibly escalate the problem. Don't be mean to the support team, it isn't their fault that a suggestion didn't work. :slightly_smiling_face:

If anyone is having performance issues, PLEASE let us know via the support link. Provide game logs, specifics on when performance issues start happening, etc. Be as specific as you can.

Data helps us figure out what and where the issue is (if it’s on our end). We can’t look into it without data.
I'll sell you a bundle of crash logs for $50, if you're interested. :P
Sorry, take it or leave it, there's no other options.
I guess you'll just have to figure out your bugs on your own. :(
Performance issues can be a result of many, MANY things. Unfortunately that makes it very hard for us to reproduce and tackle. For example, one person on our forums had their performance issues fixed when they bought a new ethernet cable haha.
