Hey all, we are actively investigating this. It seems like for most the issue resolves itself, so we are focusing on those where the error persists/returns. Customer Support is the right group to reach out to, as they create the tickets that the devs end up reviewing, and most importantly they can collect info that we can’t grab on the forums.

If the team investigating has questions for this group, I’ll post them in thread.

Don’t fret please, we are not taking a studio-wide vacation, no time for that, lots to do - there will definitely be updates on a semi-weekly basis up until the next content release. The semi-weekly releases often and will continue to include bug fixes, balance changes, reward adjustments, exploit responses, QoL changes, etc.

Changes that require new tech, such as a gearset mechanism (though to be clear, this isn’t something coming in the near term), would not be part of these smaller updates.

A ‘peek-behind-the-curtain’ detail regarding this change is that content validation testing takes a while; this adjustment to content release timing gives us the opportunity to react to player concerns quickly with smaller weekly updates, while also ensuring the quality bar of the next content release is high. Faction Control Point lock times are something we’re reviewing. We want capturing Faction Control Points to feel rewarding and for players to be able to enjoy the benefits of controlling the point for a period of time after capturing them. We also want to avoid making Faction Control Points feel like they’re always locked and not accessible, so we’re evaluating the best path forward there.

Agree with your point! We are looking into providing a more focused approach to players pursuing specific Gathering/Refining/Crafting apparel.

Thanks for the positive feedback on 3v3 PvP Arenas! We had a blast developing and play-testing it. And it was a ton of fun to take on some content creators to show off the mode (Arenas: Devs Vs. Creators Stream - News | New World).

I enjoy the casual and no loss nature of it (no durability loss, no consumables, etc.). It makes it fun to test out different builds and tactics.

We wanted to get this feature out quickly for players to experience...

Thanks for the feedback! Confirming that there are no plans currently to go F2P for New World. I saw some folks mention subs in the thread, which we are also not currently planning for. I don’t want to say ‘never’ because I can’t predict the future, but I can confirm that as of right now, we are not considering either of the aforementioned.

I also saw a few mentions of Battle Pass - there is a post from around launch about our position on battle passes, which are also not happening anytime soon as we continue to focus on events, content and features, and to my knowledge that originally stated position has not changed. Now I’ve got to go scrounge up that post…

If any of this changes, we will let everyone know well in advance.

Hey folks, this has been fixed with the last update. There is still some awkwardness around hitting ‘N’ that we are investigating, but nothing that will boot you from the game mode. You can rebind if you’d like, unless your new binding is already muscle memory and makes you happy.

No this isn’t our plan for transmog. We view Prime Gaming as a way for players to get extra skins or rewards, just like we do from Twitch Drops.

Transmog or a way to adjust visuals based on dropped items is definitely something we want to add to New World, but its a big feature that will take some time to get right, so no timeline for it yet.

Hey there! Great suggestions, thanks for writing this up! More ways for companies to compete against one another is something we’re always keeping an eye on long term. Would 10 v 10 for Outpost Rush be enough? What other sorts of company v company activities are appealing to you?

In our effort to balance providing strong rewards in the PvP rewards track and preventing Arenas from being lucrative for AFK players and bots we intentionally set the floor of the rewards low and missed the mark. We hear your concerns and will be making adjustments in a future patch, and will continue to monitor feedback. In the future we will be more mindful on creating rewarding experience for all participants of a mode.

Hey all,

Thanks for the discussion on balance. When we make balance decisions, we base our decisions on:

  • Gameplay telemetry - based on data we collect from all players this weapon is outperforming in actual gameplay
  • Combat math - this weapon combined with these stats / perks has the potential to be unbalanced versus other weapons

We regularily visit the forums and use them to help point out areas of potential concern, but we never make a decision on balance based on number of respondents to a thread. Instead we take balance discussions as something for our combat team to look into.

If they find issues when they dive into the telemetry and math, then we look for balance solutions that stay within the spirit & vision of the weapon. All weapons have some pro’s and con’s and we think that’s important to keep them interesting and different.
