Just asking, the thing about one shooting bastions with OB is still a thing? I don't see 6 of them lasting alive for a while if that's so.

That’s up to the organizers, but regardless of the rule set, we’re leaning into more fun spectacle over serious competitive event (e.g. if Bastions go down too fast we’ll spawn new ones).

It should be pretty balanced tho.

Vehicle physics are most definitely not my specialty...I don’t think they’d break the game, but it would definitely not look great.

We’ll get there at some point :)

As someone who needs to track down BSODs for their day job, I empathize with this point so hard.

Thanks guys - like I mentioned above, I know it’s not a ton of information to share. Hoping to have more insight next week, if we see that the server config changes we made (hopefully) improve things over the weekend.

Yes - 3 bastions per Empire, each at the same altitude as their counterpart. First time we’ve tried this so there might be some jank (they absolutely can NOT ram each other) but we’re def excited to give it a go.

This will be our first time trying it - it'll actually be 3 Bastions to a side (since we're only fielding 2 factions). Pretty gd excited to try this out...should be a spectacle :)

If you browse the reddit for post few hrs ago you will see some post talking about the emerald servers. I just found this https://reddit.app.link/e1r6O4Dhn5 8 hrs ago, and theres another post about 12 hr ago.

For sure, and I know how frustrating this is. Not all disconnects are server crashes, obviously, but right now this is a big issue for us, one our network engineering team is working on near 24/7. It’s frustrating for us as well when it starts to feel like trying to prove a negative - the only sign a fix has “worked” is not seeing reports, and everything looks clean in the system logs for weeks and months, and then it happens again.

This team has brilliant, committed people and I have faith we’ll figure it out - I know that’s not a lot to go on right now, but we’re going to keep at this until we get it completely right.

So /u/jgolenbo, /u/a_sites, any actual answers? It was a funny occurrence 6 months ago. It was an understandable occurrence when emerald was waiting on the hardware upgrade and pops were sky high. It's gotten down right tiresome to have the server crashing ~once a week.

EDIT: server was restarted and pop is recovering. Still investigating the cause.

Looking into this now.

Hey there! We announced a new process for applying for Observer Camera privileges - this will be something we *slowly* roll out for dedicated content creators, so we're not overloading live servers with cameramans. You can check out the application process here: https://www.planetside2.com/news/ps2-observer-camera-access-march-2020
