Also if anyone reading this doesn't know about the /wiki command (or button) in game... well...

Thank you!

On that note, here's a sneak preview... ;)

It's a scripted environment override that mimics the Paterdomus mapsquare (as the environment settings on the Silvarea mapsquare are the current sunny one from the bottom left corner) - so custom skyboxes won't overwrite it as it's already a custom skybox - and the dynamic shadows redraw when you cross the threshold into Paterdomus, but otherwise it appears to be pretty seamless, and quite spooky!

u/JagexRamen, I apologize for unceremoniously attempting to summon you via this comment, but is this anything you or another mod could weigh in on? At the least it would be great to know if the Trading Sequences had been scrapped.

Mine can't go much further until we create more Mazcab content as it's very much attached to the lore there.

However... I do have something new in the works which will have you as a community trekking back through everything I've ever worked on... More to come when I do another release :D

Here's a more detailed reply than the one linked below. :)

My apologies for the inconvenience that your interface layout was reset.

Various mainland restrictions are applied to new players to more gently onboard them to the complexities of combat, the interface, and embedded sub-systems. These restrictions are eased as they progress through Turael's paths in Burthorpe.

On Monday, we removed a 100 total level check condition from the criteria that determined whether an account is classified as a new player, due to reports from players who unintentionally completed the paths by levelling up and weren't able to continue with them.

Unfortunately that means some players who were relying on that check to not have to complete the new player paths are now in a tutorial state.

If you're still experiencing this issue, to save you having to complete the new player paths in Burthorpe, ...

Although, for the case of the helpbutton interface tutorial running when you first open the bank/forge/furnace/shop, completing the interface tutorial flags a variable on your account.

So this will only happen once for that interface if you go all the way to the end of the interface tutorial (ie press OK, or do whatever's required of you at that step).

But if you close the interface before doing so, the interface tutorial will restart the next time you open the interface. Have re-tested them to confirm.

So in this case, while the toggle above will fix it, I'd recommend just powering through and completing the interface tutorial.

Those calls will hopefully also be removed in the next game update (that fix is in the current release candidate build, but I shouldn't promise anything).

Hey Mod Stu! Sorry to bug you about this again but I wanted to check-in on if there had been any move to put a fix in for the Silvarea/Pat skybox being overwritten. I know you mentioned you would but I also know smaller things can be hectic and lost in this time.

To be honest, I raised this with QA in the episodic content team on the 20th and got approval to help out, but then we both got busy with scheduled projects again.

I'll work late tonight and get it done before it gets buried (appropriately enough!) again.

this could have been avoided by raising the level check instead of removing it.

It was originally twice that, but we received reports that players were getting locked out of content for too long. We've also tried other thresholds over the years.

Unfortunately it's quite a subjective thing. The combat level that's the ideal sweet spot for you may not be so for another player. A player may or may not want to engage in these paths. They may want to come back and do them later.

We considered changing the conditions to be more niche (incorporating quest point checks and so forth). But there's always going to be corner cases to a mandated condition.

Rather than continuing to make that decision for you through conditions outside of your control, we opted to remove the level check and put the power in your hands.

I'm not certain what aspect of double xp you're referring to, but it doesn't hurt to give it a try and see. :)

Unfortunately, no, I cannot promise any compensation.

Yeah, they're in the same sort of category of skilling activity side effects that become eligible on a generic cooldown timer. The fix we have in the works should address those too.

Hi, been wanting to get back to this, but needed to first address some other issues that popped up on social overnight.

Is your RSN (the account name you use to log in to RuneScape) lordrakard? Or something else?

There's an account by that name in our systems, so I'll try reproing with that first, but I'm not sure if it's you.

EDIT: Nope, the RSN called lordrakard doesn't appear to be anything like the account in your screenshot.

I tried recreating a scenario similar to what you've described and shown in your screenshot (resetsave and played through Burthorpe paths with iron armour equipped (and consequently 10 Defence) until Some Body to Love), but was able to complete the Smith Melee Armour path successfully. So doesn't look like wearing iron armour is the outlier.

I think this is going to have to follow standard process and come to development as a JIRA created by QA when they process your bug report, so that a dev can get access to your s...

are those restrictions documented somewhere?

Internally for testing yes and on the wiki almost certainly. :) But also regularly evolving, so if I listed them out now, it'd already be out of date by the time today's hotfixes go out.

I think it sounds more draconian and scary in that paragraph than I intended.

To aid with cognitive overwhelm, we try to keep things simple, focus on core loops on the paths and gradually attempt to introduce the complexities of a very deep and system-heavy game.

But in practice those things tend to still be easily available, just not positioned front and centre. Unfortunately some of that leaked out to players who weren't the intended audience, but that's being addressed.

TL;DR There's a hotfix in flight, but if you're not getting skilling outfit fragments, your HUD / combat bar's automatically being setup when you levelup, etc, here's a workaround so you don't have to complete Turael's paths in Burthorpe:

Open your Settings parent menu

* Desktop: press Esc or the cog on your ribbon, and then the Settings button

* Mobile: press the Home button in the top left, and then the Settings button

Then on the Settings parent menu:

* Gameplay tab

* Interfaces -> Information Windows -> untick "Guidance system hints"
