This is currently intended. We currently have no plans to prevent players from flying into these locations.

Whenever we're developing a new Alpha version, there's always some stuff that needs to be cut from the final build because we don't have enough time to implement it properly. It happened back with Alpha 0.1 (which was missing the Aguamarina Caves and the houses interiors) and it has happened too with Alpha 0.2 which we released a few weeks ago.

Instead of leaving that content to the next Alpha version, we usually like to release a big update in between bigger releases so players don't have to wait for that much for those features.

So, today, we're bringing you this update for the Alpha 0.2, including a bunch of new features and improvements!

Breeding
The first new feature and the most important one: Breeding!

We're not going to talk much about it this time, because we already dedicated a Kickstarter update to it. If you haven't read it yet, make sure to ... Read more

It's something we've talked about. The problem from our point of view is that whatever measures we put in place, like time limits or account locking, anyone truly addicted will work around and end up with 3 steam accounts to play more.

I feel like a lot of the destructive stuff comes from the 24 hour nature of the game. Being offline raided. We've considered having servers that are only open for 4 hours a day, at the same time every day. I'm not totally sure this would solve the problem - because it would obviously require self control to not be in multiple limited window servers.

Got any ideas?

Your framerate is too low. Turn down settings and look up at the sky if you want to reload. Should be fixed next update but other things will also be broken at such low framerates. Best to just upgrade your PC so you meet the minimum requirements.

Also do you plan on selling your game for specific consoles, only to later drop support for it, as you did with Linux?

Will people also be shit out of luck when trying to refund a game, that simply doesn't work anymore?

Well, a few points here.

  1. We're not supporting multiple consoles
  2. Less than 30 people a day play Rust on Linux
  3. We don't sell Rust on Linux
  4. Find your receipt in your email, forward it to me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and I'll make sure you've only ever played the Linux version and paypal you the refund personally.

Im not being funny, but rust isn't the easiest game to run, and although I don't agree with what the first chap is saying, I do think it will be a monstrous task to port over

It’s not like you press a button and it works, it’s a process of platform specific optimisations and compromises. Our feeling is that 60fps is more important than anything - everything else can be compromised on.

Because we plan to change it in the near future, we're not currently working on the change.
