Hi all,

Another hotfix has arrived, containing a select few fixes primarily for improving multiplayer stability.

Please find the patch notes below.

Megacorps should no longer create rival Megacorps after winning an Impose Ideology war.
Fixed War Names sometimes being empty on the war pin tooltip.
Fixed Out of Sync upon hotjoining as an Overlord.
Fixed Out of Sync after triggering a revolt.

Please note that save file compatibility between versions is not guaranteed.

If you have an important 3.4.4 game going, please back up the save file before trying to load the save in 3.4.5. You can roll back to a prior version by right-clicking on ...

You can disable L-Gates in Galaxy Setup as of 3.4.4. Enjoy!

In-game, if you go to Settings and then Gameplay, there is an option to turn off event auto popups. This will cause events to make an exclamation notification along the top of your screen, then you can pause and read them at your leisure. (Don't wait too long, as many events will time out and pick the default option after 30 days).

There are also options under the gameplay settings for event auto pause (turn it on for all events), and auto unpause (turn it off, and manually unpause when you're ready), that will make your gameplay experience a little easier, and less overwhelming.

I can only speak for when I was Game Director and we implemented ascension paths but the lore reason for no psi ascension then is that HMs are already psionic but in a different and incompatible way (this is why we made sure they can also talk to the Prethoryn for example). More practically both these ascension paths would have required extensive modification for HMs to the point where it'd have been better just to give them their own ascension paths. With machine ascension you also get major overlap with Machine Empires on top of all that.

Improvements
  • Automated Exploration and Automated Research are now available from the start of the game rather than being tech-locked.
  • Construction ships now have an Automated Construction mode, which will automatically build Research and Mining Stations over appropriate deposits. (It will not automatically build Observation Stations, Hyper Relays, or other constructions.)
