So I pledged the $60 option on the kickstarter. Will I get a code or something to get in early? How does that work?

Yes—we’ll be contacting you shortly after the KS campaign ends. Thank you for supporting us!

I’d like to chat with you about your current setup. Is a DM Ok?

Hi Gerald, I was wondering if I can give to a friend my kickstarter beta key if I already have one... Thank you!

I believe we'll have a way for you to do that.

Might be wrong with this but I believe they're the same bunch that made Starcraft 2. Ex-Blizzard RTS team.

Given their history, it's bound to be very competitive with a high skill ceiling which you don't really find these days in RTS games.

Many of our dev team members are from the StarCraft II team, but we also have some incredible industry talent from other AAA games...and our newer devs are killing it, too!

We are aiming for the high skill ceiling you mentioned, but we also want to lower the skill floor to make RTS more approachable. We're going to have cooperative modes like 3P co-op vs. AI and the ability to play through the campaign solo or with friends so that people who don't want to compete head-to-head can also have fun with RTS.

In the future, you can also look forward to custom games, maps, and mods as we're shipping a powerful editor that includes all the tools we're using to build the game.

We'd love to have you check out what we're building. It's an early look (we'll be in Early Access this summer), but we hope you'll come away feeling that we're building something fun.

TAking a look at their kickstarter, kind of crazy seeing close to $1.9 million pledged with a goal of $100.000. Kind of like in the early days of kickstarter.

Yet:

Stormgate is fully funded to release. This Kickstarter is in part a response to fan requests for a way to purchase a physical Collector's Edition of Stormgate

Guess the names behind the project carry a lot of weight? Or the apparently successful e-sport showcases? Kind of flew under the radar for me tbh.

Glad we're finally on your radar. Our game was fully funded for release before Kickstarter--we launched that campaign because (no longer being part of Blizzard/a major publisher) we needed additional funding to create a cool Collector's Edition of the game and to provide beta access to more players through Founder's Pack sales.

Now we're super hyped to be able to give everyone access during Steam Next Fest. Hope to see you there!

This is awesome news! Can’t wait for everybody to jump in and try the game :).

Gerald, is there any news on the NDA? I assume we’re free to make content during the free week? How about after that?

The NDA is not in effect during SNF, February 5-12. After that, closed beta testers will no longer be able to record or share footage from the closed playtest.

You could continue to create content around publicly available footage or any video you recorded from this beta build (Elephant). You couldn’t share new footage or information from future playtests (such as our third faction) if those are played under NDA during closed beta.

Hope that answers things? I’ve been enjoying your recent content, thanks for creating the videos!

You can check out our beta test (Stormgate) on February 5-12 during Steam Next Fest. It’s our first public test, so it should be a fun RTS community event.

To our incredible Kickstarter Founders, as thanks for your support, those of you who pledged to receive a Deluxe Founder’s Pack and above will get in ahead of the pack with a few days of early access to the Steam Next Fest closed beta. This is your chance to jumpstart your experience in Stormgate before the public gets in.

What about people who got invited to previous alpha/beta waves? Do they also get in early or just with the rest on 5-12?

I’d you’ve been invited to our previous playtests, you will also be getting in early.

Will we be allowed to stream the game and talk about it openly?

Yes.

Lovely, does that mean we can expect more video content before the next beta?

No promises, but it’s something we’d like to do. Stay tuned.

So for Kickstarter Backers the Beta will run from the start to to end of February roughly if I'm reading stuff right?

Roughly, yes.

It is so stupid they are having a public tournament that starts right as the public can play the game. Will be literally impossible for anyone who didnt get early access to participate.

Just say you are hosting a tournament for backers and proplayers/content creators cuz those are the only people who will be able to join anyway.

The tournament matches begin on the 10th. Public access opens up on the 5th.
