I mean... π The steam early access packages that give stuff out for $$$, one of the announcements on reddit π’ informed us that the Gold Vanguard Army Accent π«, Chicken π Supporter Pack, & Firestorm Fog of War Shader π₯ won't be available for future purchases while all other features will be acquirable. My concern is that later when they make game access available and that I would come to liking the game very much, I would miss this early bird π¦ Easter Egg π₯ π£π₯π€ π₯
π« Gold Vanguard Army Accent Add a little extra bling to your Vanguard uniforms with this special golden accent.
π Chicken Supporter Pet Welcoming this feisty feathered pal to your base is a great way to show your support for the Frost Giant team!
π₯ Firestorm Fog of War Shader When the Infernal invasion decimated nearly all life on Earth, survivors described it as "a world ablaze." Please note that this fiery cosmetic option provides no tactical benefit to either player.
The early access packs will still be available in the Steam store after August 13.
You don't need a free demo when the game is free. You can play three free prologue campaign missions, all of the co-op heroes to level 5, etc., unlimited games of 1v1 with all units available (no need to buy units, no gacha). In the future, the editor and 3v3 mode will also be available to play with for free.
At this point, 2v2 is an experiment that was built by one of our engineers as a side project using our editor tools because he's personally passionate about team games. It's not a fully-supported mode and we don't know if it's a mode that we'll be able to confirm will have matchmaking, etc. in the future. That said, the maps are in and playable, but they weren't created by the full team--they're still purely in experimentation mode.
The best thing you can do if you like 2v2 is to check out the mode during Early Access (in custom games), give us feedback, and let us know that you'd like to see it officially supported in the future.
We're reading and listening!
Originally posted by Terotrous: There is clearly a lot of confusion in the OP, so you're not wrong in that they need to be more clear about what you're getting for your purchase. You are incorrect. To clarify:
For starters, this game is not really F2P, and I feel they probably shouldn't call it that, because when people hear a game is F2P they have certain expectations about how they game will work. Stormgate is predominantly a standard "buy to play" game, however, you can play the 1v1 Vs mode for free, or play co-op mode with 1 character. Everything else in the game requires you to pay. Notably, it seems like there is no way to "earn" the purchasable content, as there would be in any other F2P game.
I have no problems with the art direction of SG except for one thing... Bad guy's face
We changed his face so that heβs wearing a mask now. More to share soon.
Some of our playtesters were testing the game using the game porting toolkit and reported positive results, though itβs not officially supported. We are also going to have GeForce Now support, which can be used on Macs, Android devices, and other platforms.
There are only two resources in the game and they made them both glowing rocks, with similar names. Itβs insane to me that this choice has not been changed. The two resources should be as unique as possible
The resources are not final and weβre planning to change them during Early Access.
How is 'BuddyBot' (automacro) going to help new players if according to the roadmap it won't be ready until next year?
BuddyBot is already in the game.
Seems weird to not prioritize complete T3 units for each race. When is actual release? Beyond the 2025 roadmap?
It would be weird to have tournaments and stuff without a complete tech tree.
Players have been competing in Stormgate since our pre-alpha days. You don't want to introduced T3 units in dribs and drabs as you want to bring them into the game at once so that one faction doesn't have a significant advantage over the others as their T3 units came online earlier in the development pipeline.
I'll personally wait until I have a bigger picture of how much the game will cost. If f2p means breaking down the game into very little pieces that together cost more than an AAA game for an equivalent amount of content, then I'm not interested. I'm sure a lot of people have enough money to support a business model like that and the game will do fine, but that's not for me. I want a fair price, which for what I've seen would be an AA price equivalent for the actual content, and then they can add any gacha mechanics on top for the cosmetics.
We're not planning to implement any gacha mechanics -- we want our players to know exactly what they're paying for.
I wish you could embed a discord server in a game lol
About that...
