Meet Warz--the fallen Celestial.

Warz (voiced by Simu Liu), is a central figure in the Stormgate storyline and leads the Infernal invasion of Earth. He was revealed in playable form exclusively at gamescom latam during the opening night ceremony.

Warz will be playable for free up to level 5 in the 3P co-op mode when the game launches to to Steam Early Access on August 13. In the future, Warz will be playable in the upcoming 3v3 mode (currently in development and set to debut during Early Access).

When we announced a future where humans would be fighting vs. demons over the fate of the Earth, we knew there was a tiny, infinitesimally small chance that some Nostradamus out there would predict angels as the third faction...

You don't need a free demo when the game is free. You can play three free prologue campaign missions, all of the co-op heroes to level 5, etc., unlimited games of 1v1 with all units available (no need to buy units, no gacha). In the future, the editor and 3v3 mode will also be available to play with for free.

This release model appears confused, backwards and self-defeating.

If you're interested in playing a lot of campaign content at once, you should hold off and come back for our 1.0 release, so you can play through the entire Vanguard campaign and likely some of the Infernal campaign as well. Early Access is not for players looking for a complete experience--it's for players who want to be an active part of the development journey.

It's perfectly OK to take a "wait and see" approach and come back later if your preference is to have more missions available to you when you dive in. You can always check back in whenever you like, as the core game experience is free and you're at literally no risk to check things out and see how the game is shaping up.

2v2 Clarification

At this point, 2v2 is an experiment that was built by one of our engineers as a side project using our editor tools because he's personally passionate about team games. It's not a fully-supported mode and we don't know if it's a mode that we'll be able to confirm will have matchmaking, etc. in the future. That said, the maps are in and playable, but they weren't created by the full team--they're still purely in experimentation mode.

The best thing you can do if you like 2v2 is to check out the mode during Early Access (in custom games), give us feedback, and let us know that you'd like to see it officially supported in the future.

For starters, this game is not really F2P, and I feel they probably shouldn't call it that, because when people hear a game is F2P they have certain expectations about how they game will work. Stormgate is predominantly a standard "buy to play" game, however, you can play the 1v1 Vs mode for free, or play co-op mode with 1 character. Everything else in the game requires you to pay. Notably, it seems like there is no way to "earn" the purchasable content, as there would be in any other F2P game.

Some of our playtesters were testing the game using the game porting toolkit and reported positive results, though it’s not officially supported. We are also going to have GeForce Now support, which can be used on Macs, Android devices, and other platforms.

It would be weird to have tournaments and stuff without a complete tech tree.

Players have been competing in Stormgate since our pre-alpha days. You don't want to introduced T3 units in dribs and drabs as you want to bring them into the game at once so that one faction doesn't have a significant advantage over the others as their T3 units came online earlier in the development pipeline.

This is incorrect.

The Ultimate bundle includes all of the campaign content we have available for purchase at this time as well as three co-op Heroes. Everyone gets a 4th Hero for free, completely unlocked. We will have one additional Hero available at Early Access release, so I'm not sure where you came up with $100.

Reminder:

You can play all of our game modes for free.

The prologue missions for Campaign are free. (Play those first. If you like them, then you can decide whether you want to buy the paid campaign missions.)

One Hero is available with fully unlocked progression for free.

All Heroes are available to play and level up to 5, for free, so you can play them for hours before deciding whether you want to purchase fully unlocked progression.

If all you want to do is play 1v1 ranked, you can do that for free.
