Strictly speaking the M1/M2 Macs are not supported hardware for this game, or indeed any of our games. However the games do generally run.

Are you on the latest MacOS version for it?

And what happens if you run eu4.app directly?

Are you or your friend using an ASUS computer? If so they have an MP 'helper' app (whose name we don't mention publicly) that causes this to our games. You'll need to unload that before you play MP.

Or does this also happen in single player to them and/or you?

The only difference between the Steam and MS versions is the MP code, so I don't think that's the issue here.

Did you try it in fullScreen mode as I described? I'm not clear from what you say.

If so please attach new copies of all these files:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log, exceptions.log

I don't know, that was the question I was asking you!

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Is that any better?

What MacOS version are you on? If it's less than 12.x that may be a current bug in our launcher.

If that is the situation would you consider updating to 12.5 to test this theory? If I can get confirmation of that problem I'll report it to the launcher devs then.

Hard to see how the OS version could cause this.

Has this always happened since you've had the game, or only since when?

I take it those saves are all from just after this happened. Is there one from the same colony from just before it happened, to see if others can reproduce the problem?

I don't recall any previous reports of this and have not seen it in my own games either.

Any mods involved?

That looks like you have two separate problems (game and launcher) which is very unusual to happen at the same time. Has there been some change or problem on this machine, outside the game?

LAUNCHER:
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

The issue is not with Ironman mode, it's with cloud saves. They only get synced up to Steam when you exit the game, not during play.

huzbum said: I think the game left open on my laptop overwrote my cloud save.

Today, when I went to resume from the launcher screen on my desktop, my progress was gone.
Actually the laptop did not overwrite anything. When you opened it with Resume on your desktop that automatically loaded the older save from the cloud and then updated it, making it a newer version than was up in Steam.

There is one sl... Read more

Does this only happen when running in Debug mode? Because it is not intended to be played that way!

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings III/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III/ .

If those don't help:
Please attach here your Documents/Parado... Read more

There are no significant errors in those logs to explain this. The launcher installs okay, and updates itself - except only to 2022.6 for some reason, not 2022.9

You could try manually updatng it to 2022.9
https://launcher.paradoxinteractive.com/v2/paradox-launcher-installer-macos

Just install from the .dmg file in that download. Does that help?

That screenshot shows your program files location, not your Windows User Documents location.

In any case there are still 1603/5 errors in that log, so we're still at the position I outlined in post #4 above - there's a stuck install/uninstall there. If that MS tool cannot find or fix it, you can try the two free utilities Ccleaner and Revo Uninstaller.

I'm afraid we cannot help with modded games here, and disabling mods does not remove effects they have already had on the save game file.

If you ever get this problem in a colony that's never had any mods used in it, please upload it here!

I see, thenn the issue is likely one of you two players rather than the MP servers.

Please each of you two try the game MP with any third person, to see which of you two has the problem.

Oh, was your Windows User Documents folder held on F: ? If so you have to re-point it to somewhere that actually exists, such as the default C:/users//Documents/ folder.

Carreter Solitaria said: Yes, I have used it. He helped with the removal of the program, but does not detect it in the downloads
Well, with that and deleting the folders I listed, the installer ought not to be referencing F: any more. You sure you did all that?

When you start this game from the Steam PLAY button, there are three MP options shown. Have you two tried all three?
