That one crashes for me too so it looks like a real bug, and you are all set to report in it Bug Reports!

Make a new thread there and attach that save for QA to look into.

Then put it aside and try it as you see new game patches come out.

Actually that says missing sound, not missing file. If you run a Steam Verify operation it will install any missing files, but I'm sure that is not your actual problem.

Your comments on malloc are interesting, but can't be due to a bug in the game or all Mac players would get this, including myself! Which they do not. Strictly speaking the M1 platform is not supported hardware for this game, but again I doubt that is the issue here.

You've attached one save game file here. Is that because this crash happens with it but not say a new galaxy you might start? Or this happens with every new galaxy you start?

And has this always happened, or it was okay up to some point?  

I'm not a console player so I'm unfamiliar with that setup and how it works; I don't know what you mean by "cloud gaming" as compared to normal use. You mean setting the game to save to cloud instead of to your local Xbox machine?  

I ran that save for several years with no cash or problem. Is there some action you do that seems to trigger the crash?

Can you test it on any other machine you might have access to?

I'm not aware of this as a general problem. This would be Rare Anomaly Analyzed: Fossils, is that right? And you choose option 4. in it?

The 1603/1605 errors we see there are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

Otherwise run the Update app in Windows, does it load okay, find anything to apply - whether a patch, update, or whole new Windows 10 version? If so do that and reboot, then try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that? Use this MS tool to remove that stuck in stall/uninstall:

Do not kill the file msiexec.exe ! It is part of Windows and needs to be there for our installer to work at all. It's just if it is currently running memory, is executing, that it needs that process to be terminated in Task Manager.  

Of those games you list, only EU4 uses the new launcher.

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
