Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Good luck!

Thanks; the clean reinstall I usually suggest for such issues would have worked too, I'm sure.

macdesktops said: I performed an Uninstall from Steam, and then re-installed 1.4.4. Presumably, that would have nuked the cache folders.
Not at all. Steam only deletes files it put there, not ones the game creates for itself.

Did you load your 1.4.4 Ironman save under 1.5 somehow?

When you revert game versions, you should delete at least the three 'cache' folders in the Documents/paradox interactive/ck3/ folder - does that help the crash on start of 1.4.4 ?

Please don't do that. Report it to the beta support team, thanks!

The 1603/1605 errors we see there are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

Otherwise run the Update app in Windows, does it load okay, find anything to apply - whether a patch, update, or whole new Windows 10 version? If so do that and reboot, then try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that? You can use this MS tool to fix that, if so:

Well, no it doesn't as the number of complaints regarding it indicate.

I'm not aware of other such reports. Is this just in this one save, or also any new one you might start as a test?

Ay mods in use?

Don't start the launcher independently. That is intended for non-Steam users.

Where the game and launcher are installed are independent. My Steam is on D: and launcher on C: and it works just fine.

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/

2022-02-05 23:21:39 [repository] [WARNING] Error in response: Get : signing TTL received is too close to current time (threshold of 60 sec)
This error means your computer is not on good internet time, which confuses our servers. Go into the Date&Time control panel and make sure Set Time Automatically is ON. Then hit the Sync Now button.

Then run the game again, the launcher will probably update itself now.

All the best!

If you run a Steam Verify operation against the game, does that find anything to fix?

Has this always happened ever since you've had the game? Or only since when?

You mention one particular galaxy i think - does this happen in every one you play?

Any mods in use?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Hopefully deleting that drone will get past it?

Not sure what to make of those 'persist' errors in the long, that's new to me. If you run a Steam Verify operation against the game, does that find anything to fix?

Still smells of something blocking eu4.exe from our servers then. Can you try connecting this computer via a VPN, or even a mobile phone hotspot, and see if you get the same issue?

I'm not aware of this as a known issue with that DLC.

Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Is your machine an ASUS? If so they can have an MP 'helper' app (which we do not name in public) which crashes others' MP sessions, even computers.
