87c is the cause of this problem IMO.

If you disable Vsync and set the frame rate cap to 60 in the launcher "game settings" menu, does it run cooler?

and and said: I had the same problem.
Launcher 1 said the game version was 1.5.0.1 and the DLC:s were correct. It also said DLC updates were available but an error occurs when trying to update.
Launcher 2 said the game version was 1.5.0 and Northern Lords was missing. It was also missing in game.
(Why do we need two launchers anyway?)

The only solution I found was to uninstall the game and the launchers altogether and reinstall.

Launcher 2 still says the game version is 1.5.0 and shows a warning sign next to the "PLAY" button but the game now runs with the correct DLC:s. ...

Chieftain Odd Surr said: So the DLC tab is there, but only Royal Court shows, which I did not buy yet.

I reverted to 1.4 and back to 1.5 again and the same thing happened as before but the error message did not pop up after downloading this time.

I loaded the game and only Royal Court seems to be installed (the court is there and the extra things with the Norse don't show up). However, only the achievements for Northern Lords, not Royal Court, show up on the achievements page.

As far as I can tell 1.5 works, maybe?

The DLC I have are Northern Lords and Garments of the...

Antivirus apps can prevent the launcher and game from updating those ..txt files. Which one do you use?

Add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

You should add steam.exe and C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.2/paradox launcher.exe to that list.

Please make a new thread in the Bug Reports forum, if this is not already reported there. Thanks.

What antivirus app do you use? Make sure ck3.exe is in all its exceptions lists.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

Looks like you've done something odd when installing Steam:
E:\ steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\launcher-installer-windows.msi
I suspect all those leading spaces before the word Steam cause this new problem. You could try just editing them out, or you may have to remove and reinstall Steam altogether.

Good luck!

We see the crash in the game in that dxdiag, but no obvious cause. Was there no settings.txt , error.log, system.log ? And if I can get exceptions.log too.

English only here please!

I think your problem is caused by this driver EZFRD32.dll , which normally runs some unusual devices like vibrating joysticks. Unplug any such device and see if the game runs then.

If it does, please sek an update to that driver from that vendor.

Good luck!

I just installed it on my Ubuntu installation, and with the tweak I made to your account Royal Court now shows in the Paradox Launcher v2 DLC tab. So it is not a Linux issue.

In the PDX client log out, then back in again. Then just run the game, does Royal Court show in the Paradox Launcher v2 DLC tab?

What you've done should have worked.

Did the mod files automatically install into the Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mod/ folder?

Please unplug any game controllers and joysticks from the computer before starting this game.

All the best!

Sorry, I'm a bit lost with your problem now.

You change the game's resolution settings in our launcher, is that right? That writes out to pdx_settings.txt

Then you run the game from the launcher. What happens then? That should copy those new settings to settings.txt

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

That should do it for you!

From that error log it's pretty clearly a video problem. Please try the following:

- uninstall the nVidia driver and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install the 2022 version from here:
www.nvidia.com

Download the latest official NVIDIA drivers ...

This is going to be a pain for you, and I'm sorry, but I see no way of avoiding it!

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
- run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
- subscribe to a few mods

- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

IF you still get this problem, it will have to be addressed by the launcher devs I'm sure (rather that HOI4 devs). Let me know!
