Has the game ever run okay on this computer? Or never yet?

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015\ and run vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe

If that doesn't help, Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\

Plus, DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Sheesh, I frankly have no idea what could be causing that for you.

Can you install the game on any other computer and try this? This is to confirm this is an issue on this computer, not some weird Steam or account issue.

What if you click on the Home icon (Official Stellaris Website) in the main game menu and accept the cookie there?

That ? button takes you to the wiki front page:
https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Stellaris_Wiki

Can you do that okay outside the game? What browser are you using?

Is this if you click on the Home icon (Official Stellaris Website) in the main game menu? Or elsewhere in the game?

Either way I was unable to duplicate the problem, FYI.

Omniscient said: Starting last night, I've been having problems where whenever I close Stellaris, steam thinks that the game is still running, and won't let me run it again unless I close and restart steam. I've already tried several supposed fixes, such as running in administrator mode, with no success. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
FYI the game did not change on that day, last update was 2.3.2 on June 18th. So I guess this must be a Windows or antivirus update ... ? Or even Steam maybe?

Anything like that happen then?

Thanks for finding that! I haven't yet got my own copy on this platform.

From that log I'm pretty sure this is a bug, and I see we now have another report in this forum.

@Azurespecter is this something you can pick up and run with?

Anything in the log?
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\

Make sure the game's executable (I assume it's not called MarsSteam.exe?) is in the exceptions list/whitelist of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

B M Perry said: Seems that Mac crashes and game breaking bugs are simply being ignored as far as I can tell. I thought the purpose of these forums was for Paradox to interact with players who are having issues with their game, but game-breaking issues like this are getting 0 response. Really disappointed to purchase a game that doesn't work and then be ignored by paradox while they release fixes for minor issues.
The developers Haemimont do read these forums and are aware of these Mac issues. They don't post much here as that's time spent away from development, pleas... Read more

That log only shows the game starting up, no crash or save. Can you find a log that shows the problem please?

Fixtheerrors said: It's actually done it for a long time now on three different PC's.
Really!?! That does surprise me, I was going to get you to do a clean reinstall but it seems like that wouldn't help.

What do these PCs have in common that it seems no one else has or uses? Do you still have access to the other two?

I was unable to duplicate this problem. By 'closing' do you mean X-ing away the list of tracks?

This problem aside does it appear to work okay?

Has this always happened ever since you've had the game? Or only since what change or update?

I am sorry their site is so bad, I had no idea! I don't really know what else to suggest, if you cannot get in contact with any actual support there.

Clearly people are getting newer drivers from somewhere!

What if you redirect sound to be via the nVidia audio driver you have there?

I just opened a random dxdiag from another customer and they have:
Driver Name: RTKVHD64.sys
Driver Version: 6.00.0001.8242 (English)
Date and Size: 01.09.2017 00:00:00, 5911528 bytes
So there are certainly updates available! I've never trusted that Windows driver update utility, it always seems to say that.

You may need to contact RealTek if you can't work out how to get updates from their site.

Good luck!

DxDiag Notes
------------
Sound Tab 1: The file RTKVHD64.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
This driver is from 2013. Please check with RealTek for a newer supported driver.

All the best!

FYI "hostile and stupid" are absolutely insults in English. And "don't give a damn about" is not very nice either. Just so you know.

The game supports 8 languages, which is not bad in this day and age. So I guess in a sense all the other thousands of languages spoken in the world are 'deliberately' excluded from the game.

Feel free to make a mod that translates the game into Italian.

Is this new with 2.2 or happened under 2.1.3/4 also?

Any mods involved?
