May as well update that video driver
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

But you are getting a log of abnormal errors in that log. That shouldn't happen after a clean install. You definitely deleted everything under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again? No mods enabled?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.

- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris

- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

If that doesn't help: DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it comp... Read more

Stellaris does not use any ports of its own, all MP play is via the Steam client. Here are the ports Steam uses though:

DLC names and numbers

DLCs reside in the program files area (this is under Steam/SteamApps/Common/Stellaris/DLC/) as two files for each DLC; dlc001.zip and dlc001.dlc , which are inside a sub-folder dlc001_dlc_name . The .zip file contains the actual data, images or songs; the .dlc file is a simple text file that can be read with Notepad or Textapp and contains the title of the DLC as below.

001 Symbols of Domination
002 Arachnoid Portrait Pack
003 Paradox Account Sign-up Bonus
004 Plantoid (Portrait Pack)
010 Creatures of the Void Portrait Pack
012 Leviathans Story Pack
013 Horizon Signal
014 Utopia

015 Anniversary Portraits
016 Synthetic Dawn
017 Apocalypse
018 Humanoids
019 Distant Stars
020 Megacorp

Bolded underlined entries are major DLCs. Others are "co... Read more

This is a modified copy of the sticky thread with a similar title from EU4. Please point out any errors or additions below.

File Locations on Windows
The default location for the executables (stellaris.exe and DLCs) is in C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris/ .

The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are in C:\Users\USER\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\

File Locations on Mac OS X
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris/

On OS X 10.8.x and later, Apple have hidden the /Users/USER/Library/ folder. To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .

The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, mods) are in or under /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ .

Do you have the game and your Documents folder both on the same hard disk?

Assuming you now have EU4 installed in a Steam library on your SSD, try this: use Notepad to create a text file called userdir.txt in the folder that eu4.exe is in. In that file place a single dot, save and exit. That makes the game create the user files and gfx cache on that drive, not in C: where documents is.

If so, it doesn't affect everyone with Win10. You could perhaps try running the game in Win7 compatibility mode, to test that theory.

I would say 30 fps is acceptable for a non-real time game, 20 or lower would be an issue though. But since you get the stuttering when fps is at 60, that's not related to your problem anyway.

BTW according to this story

Try setting

multi_sampling=0
maxanisotropy=0

That aside I see no real problem in there. Clearly the issue is not fps or refresh rate.

One thing interesting though; of your 8gb of system memory, the nVidia takes away 4gb, and the Intel video another 4gb ... ! Presumably not at the same time, but still ...

I don't suppose forcing the game onto the Intel helps? It shouldn't of course , but worth a test run I think.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/EU4/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/EU4/logs/ folder, attach system.log (rename to system.txt to attach). What version # and checksum do you see a/ in the launcher and b/ in the main game menu, when loaded with NO mods active?

Does this happen from the moment you start a new game? Or start OK then get worse?

Note that you can see your actual fps by turning on that feature in Steam.
