We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters
Go to Windows Control panel.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
Click on Change adapter options.
Right-click all network adapters that are not connected to the internet and select the Disable option.

That sounds like a video driver or hardware fault, or overheating.

What fps do you see in the game just before it crashes now?

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ in the main game menu
3/ AND just before it crashes, if possible
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

It's hard to see how that's possible, to be honest. Are you 100% sure there were no files or folders left under the Steam Documents CK3 location in particular, before installing again?

Make a new Windows user on this computer and log into Windows with that. Does it work there?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

That should do it for you!

Did you find what app or utility seemed to be causing this?

We've seen devices like joysticks and Xbox game controllers cause this, but not Razer gear up until now. All I can really suggest is to check with them for updates drivers, as most of yours seem to date from 2022 at present.

Good luck!

Please don't update old threads, start your own new one in future, thanks. The game has changed a lot since last year.

The pdx_settings you uploaded does not reflect that, Vsync is on for instance. Turn that off and enable the refresh rate cap of 60. Any better?

Do they show in our launcher's DLC tab as enabled?

If so I have no real explanation for them showing as missing in that save, except some sort of save game file corruption.

Can you start and play a new campaign with them okay? And save, exit and reload that new save?

As you can see that is a Windows error. That DLL is part of Visual C++ so something is wrong in that area.

First go to the Windows control panel and uninstall all instances of Visual C++ 2010 and 2015/17/19/22 - there may be several of each. No need to touch any others.

THEN Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

What happens if you run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer? Do you get any clearer Windows error then?

If not: Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log ... Read more

As it happens with one Windows user and not another on the same machine, it must be that first user is running some app or utility getting in the way, has some Windows setting causing this (such as mouse trails), OR is corrupted.

In that user go into the Startup screen and disable everything in there and reboot, does it still happen?

No mention of stellaris.exe in that dxdiag. What happens if you run it manually from File Explorer, any Windows error show then?

Our similar game Crusader Kings 2 is free to play on Steam now, does it work or have a similar problem?

This pretty much has to be a game bug I'm afraid. Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the save game there, for QA to look into.

As far as repairing your save file goes, that's not a service we offer here officially. Some kind soul might try it for you of course! The good folks over in User Mods are probably best placed to do so.

Sorry for that problem!

Are there any mods in use?

When you hit PLAY in the Steam Library, you get a mini-menu. In there choose Nakama instead of Steam MP - all players will need to do this.
Does that help matters?

Do you end up with the same checksum in the MP lobby screen as your friends do?

And, can you test with the Cross Store MP option in the launcher's Game Settings menu?

I'm sorry that happened but I don't know why! It's a routine thing to do.

Did you try a new Windows user as I suggested?

Thanks for those files, but I asked for the actual save game file so we can see if it happens here too.
