I was able to run that last_save.ck3 for some game years with no problem.

Can you try it on any other machine you might have access to, or this machine but a new Windows user on it?

As there are no mods involved this must be a game bug. Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the affected save file there, plus instructions QA will need to generate the problem.

Then put that campaign aside, and try it as you see new game patches come out.

Sorry for that problem!

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Buying a DLC will never render a save unplayable. However with a new DLC release is always a major game patch, which might have that effect.

Generally the patch notes say whether a patch is save game compatible with previous versions or not. If not, the recommendation is to revert to the previous patch to complete the campaign, which is done in the Steam Betas tab for the game.

When you run HOI4 from the Steam PLAY button you get a choice of Nakama or Steam MP. Do you get this issue with both services?

Either way you need to add the .exe files for all these games to the exceptions lists of all your firewalls; Windows Defender if that's the one you use in Windows, or whatever other appo you use there. Plus possibly a firewall in your internet router/modem.

I'm sorry but I cannot help with modded games here. If you get this in an unmodded game please report it as I suggested; if only in a modded game please post in User Mods.

Thanks.

Please update that nVidia driver to 531.29 or later

If that doesn't help, we see several LiveKernelEvent entries in that dxdiag. Have you seen that happen, is it related to the game or something else?

And, the changes we made in the launcher don't seem to have come through to settings.txt , not sure what could cause that. What happens if you run stellaris.exe directly?

Please do that process again, but isntead of running the game try this updated installer:
https://launcher.paradoxinteractive.com/v2/paradox-launcher-installer-windows

IF that doesn't help still The 1603/1605 errors we see there are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

Otherwise run the Update app in Windows, does it load okay, find anything to apply - whether a patch, update, or whole new Windows 10 version? If so do that and reboot, then try this launcher install again please.

If this is an unmodded game, this is almost certainly a bug. Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach an affected save game for QA to look into.

Please cap refresh rate to 60, as I suggested- its at 120 in there.

You should also update to the nVidia driver 531.29 or later, as the previous one had severe bugs.

Good luck!

I've seen reports of this with CSL on Epic only, no other game. My best guess is it relates to some change in the Epic client but I haven't been able to prove that.

@Jamface662 Unload the Epic client entirely then run EU4.exe by itself. Does this still happen?

Game crashes after couple hours of play

My game crashes and is just unable to play right after the loading screen.
These two don't seem to agree with each other - can you clarify exactly what is happening when, please?

Has this always happened since you've had this game? or it was okay up to some point?

In which case it is very likely not the same problem. Please try the above anyway, and make your own thread with those logs if it does not help. Thanks.

imgonnahurtu said: Per the thread title, Stellaris will not launch from steam. Any attempt to do so results in the attached error window appearing.

I have tried reinstalling both Stellaris and Steam, verified file integrity, and also launched the game (successfully) from the Stellaris application in the actual steam folder itself.

As far as I can tell the issue seems to be tied to the Launcher-Installer-Windows. To the best of my knowledge the first launch of Stellaris is supposed to launch this and then install the launcher (obviously). However, while I can run Stellaris the application i...

Actually, it's a cosmetic bug in those DLCs and will be fixed in the next game patch.

The DLCs will still be functional in the game.

I've never seen anything else cause this.

Has it always been the case in this game for you? Or it was okay up to some point?

Our similar game Cruisader Kings 2 is free to play on Steam, do you get the same problem there?

What if you make a new Windows user and log into Windows as that - does it still happen?
