Skad said: I'm a bit confused by your suggestion to "try it on any other machine", as I'm not interested in preserving the save, but rather being able to play the game on this machine.
It was purely a diagnostic step to confirm that the issue is confined to your machine.

It does not, they are separate apps.

The game has not been updated for a year now, and I have no indication if/when any further updates are planned.

Given that the minimum requirement is Ubuntu 16.04 x64 I guess this is likely to keep happening as Ubuntu gets further new versions!

Has this always been the case for you? or it used to work up to some point?

Does this also affect CK2, HOI4 and Stellaris?

Try deleting everything in your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4 Gamepass/ folder (EXCEPT any values save file sof course!).

IF that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

You should also get that launcher update - are you on 2023.4.1 ?

Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Edit your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/settings.txt to say:
refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no

vsync=no

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu select fullScreen display mode. Is that any better?

If you tried via both Nakama and Steam MP, this is either a local network issue at one end or the other, or a problem with that particular galaxy.

Can you start and play a new one okay?

Sorry for the delay, I was on leave.

But this is not really a tech support issue - there is nothing you or I can do to the console edition to make it sync. Please post it in Console Bug Reports if not there already.

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
- run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
- subscribe to a few mods

- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

I can see in that screenshot you have set the UI scale to 50%. Make it bigger.

Is this only happening in MP? Can you load that save in single player and play it okay?

And, can you start and play a new galaxy okay in MP?

You mean ones started under previous game patches? If so, you need to revert to that game version to complete them. That is done in the Betas tab in Steam for this game.

I don't see what could be causing this for you.

What if you make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that? Any different?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

I see no other such reports. Are you on launcher 2023.4.1 , and using the Upload Mod button in there?

Please try this:

- uninstall the nVidia driver and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install march 2023 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again

I believe the patch notes do say that localisations are broken in some places, and will be addressed in future patches.
