Any firewall in your computer or router will need to allow all traffic from steam.exe , stellaris.exe and Paradox Launcher.exe through in both directions.

The issue won't be specific ports as Steam and Nakama use different ones.

Please delete the contents ONLY of that C:\Windows\Installer\ folder, but NOT the folder itself. They are only temp files.
To see that folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Or if that folder is missing, try making it manually.

Good luck!

In Game Settings in our launcher, choose Cross Store MP (all players will have to do this). That makes you use the Nakama MP service instead of Steam's.

Does that help?

You must have run the launcher from the desktop shortcut, which is a standalone mode for users who do not want to run Steam. It does need a separate game installation if used that way, and anyway this game is no longer supported on that platform.

You need to run it from the PLAY button in your Steam Library.

Go to this page

Paradox Accounts

accounts.paradoxplaza.com accounts.paradoxplaza.com and click on Access Earlier Versions. There's a code there for each game that has old pre-GDPR versions available, including this one. Redeem that code in the Steam betas tab.

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters

  1. Go to Windows Control panel.
  2. Click on Network & Internet.
  3. Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
  4. Click on Change adapter options.
  5. Right-click all network adap...

Ah, that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

Stellaris.exe and dowser.exe (in the Steam Stellaris folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.14/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT Stellaris.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

In that case you can work by binary division: disable half the mods and test, the problem one will be in one half or the other. As I calculate it 5 iterations should narrow 40 down to 1, if it is really one bad mod!

And as I say, if you need more detailed help, or if any of your mods are known bad ones, User Mods forum is the place for it.

If you run stellaris.exe directly from file explorer, does the game start up then?

Yes, that is a known issue when one empire controls much of the map, and any large war or rebellion breaks out. You should be able to find other such reports in the Bug Reports forum here.

Please add your saved game to one of those threads, or make yourself a new one there for that if you prefer.

Sorry for that problem!

I know nothing about mods I'm afraid. If the game runs okay when no mods are enabled, all you can really do is eliminate them one by one.

You may need help from the User Mods forum here too.

Good luck!

I'd assume it's accessible off your GoG account page on their website?

I really have no idea ... GoG is the one edition I do not have access to.

Can you get to that page via a normal web browser okay?

I really hope the issues for this game on Mac can be solved soon because this is one of my favorite games of all time. It sucks that I can't play it :(
This report is nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

If this is repeatable from that attached save, an dthere are no mods involved, it's a pretty clear game bug. Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and atatch those files for QA to look into.

Then you could test the game on a Windows machine if you have access to one, to see if it's a Mac-specific error.

Sorry for that problem!

That really sounds like some network/internet issue.

Can your friends play with each other (ie without you) okay?

You must have run the launcher from the desktop shortcut, which is a standalone mode for users who do not want to run Steam. It does need a separate game installation if used that way, and in any case EU4 was never ported to that platform.

Epic games must be run from the Epic launcher.
