I take it you already checked all the options for the LSM's safe mode including the one to remove citizens? That including the mods you mention are all the ones I know of, which can help recover from a simulation error.

Do you have any other versions of the same city you could try? Maybe an autosave?

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. That is ofc not at all acceptable and will be dealt with.

Can you post the output log (player.log on Mac and Linux)?

There's a few errors in there with missing citizens, but I don't think they are related. You should be able to fix that easily by clearing traffic with TMPE.

To see if this is a mod misbehaving or some mod setting behaving unexpectedly, I recommend disabling mods that affect the AI, which would be these:

  • Enhanced District Services
  • Auto Line Color (not AI related and probably not the problem, but since it affects lines, we'll try removing it temporarily as well)
  • TMPE

Load the city without those mods and let the simulation run for a little bit. Ignore that your city might be having some new traffic issues, we just want to see if the lines are okay or not. Making a new one to confirm if it still happens is a good idea as well.

I spotted a stack overflow error in that log just as the game autosaves. Not sure what's causing that, as I've only seen it in 2 other logs before, but that's probably increasing RAM usage enough to sometimes crash your game. Setting a nice and big pagefile should help you avoid crashing. You can set it to 32 or 64 GB, provided ofc you have that much free space on the disk the pagefile is on. :)

This seems to happen somewhat randomly, which makes tracking down a cause really hard. Some people find that restarting the game does the trick, while others have it a lot more. For some high RAM usage seems to play a role and reducing custom content or shutting down programs running in the background seems to do the trick.

Cars cannot enter an intersection if they cannot make it out, so they are stopping to wait for the car in front to exit the intersection and make room for them on the other side. This happens pretty often when you have several intersections close to each other like in your 2nd screenshot.

You can solve this by minimizing the amount of intersections that close, so that there are fewer situations like this. Or you can use TMPE to change the intersection rules, so cars can enter an intersection even if it's blocked. Keep an eye on them if you do the latter though, as that might also cause more problems in some cases.

If you can post your output log (player.log on Mac and Linux), then we can take a look and hopefully see why the game crashes. This guide explains where to find the log and suggests some sites to upload it to, since we can't attach files here on Steam.

And if Steam isn't starting the download like it should, logging out, shutting Steam completely down, restarting and logging in again usually does the trick to get it downloading again.

No problem! I'm sorry it didn't help your case. :/

If you have access to any kind of cloud gaming, that might also be an option. Afaik it doesn't work with workshop content, but with just the game itself it works just fine.

Hmm, sounds like you might have a mod incompatible with Network Skins 2 if it isn't loading as it should. If you can post your output log (player.log on Mac and Linux), I'd be happy to take a look and see if I can spot anything useful. :)

I'm not sure any Steam employees visit here. At least I've never seen them post in the General Discussions for Cities: Skylines. The General Discussions for all of Steam might be a better place to post - or trying to contact support. :/

Sorry I couldn' t find that message anywhere so someone else might be of use. But still, do you have an unlocked tile that is the end of the map?

81 tiles is a safe bet though :) I' ve recently built a city with both 25 tiles and 81 tiles mods turned on and just recently...

You could also use the mod Cross The Line to move outside the 25 tiles. The benefit of Cross The Lines over 81 tiles is that you can remove it again, at least when you're just adding roads or rails outside the 25 tiles. :)

The elevation step just shows how much it will increase each step when going up. The default keys to raise or lower a road is page up and page down.
