Hey guys,
I don't want to completely derail the OP's topic about how to play RN Battlecruisers, but I will try and explain a bit here.

I hear you on this - but please don't think I don't have a player's perspective just because I work for WG. I have 15k battles ranging from Coop to King of the Sea Round of 16 and many seasons of Hurricane level Clan Battles. I still play about 100 games every 21 days, so I am not removed from the player experience

There are actually a variety of methods we can use to investigate whether or not games are, on average, more lopsided than before.
We can look at average XP per battle, per tier; average number of ships destroyed per game on each side; average XP per game on the losing side vs winning; average length of battles.... we can even look at all of them together.

It's an excellent place to start. The most common criticism of the MM that I hear...

Ok, fair enough - you take issue with feeling that too many games are lopsided in terms of player skill.

This has been a thing for quite a while, but the data that we have about average battle length shows that this really isn't the case.

We're not quite sure why people feel like games are more lopsided these days, but this is not shown when we zoom out and look at thousands of games played over time.

Again - I don't know what you mean by "the matchmaker doesn't work".

It clearly works, because matches are made thousands of times a day.

You'll have to be more specific if you feel there is a problem with the match-maker.

Ships and their roles have always been somewhat blurred. This is not a new thing.

I don't know what you mean by "the matching system just doesn't work anymore". It does work. The biggest criticism that I hear is disparity in the skill-level of teams, but this has nothing to do with ships or their roles.

Some DD's are more like light cruisers with no citadel.

Some Cruisers are more like light battleships.

Some BB's are more like Large cruisers.

Some cruisers are more like giant destroyers.

Hi!
The mid-tier ships have to make use of their high speed and good concealment to choose when and how they engage.

Their ideal function is to engage and destroy cruisers. While nearly all battleships want to do this, the speed and stealth allow them to have more options in this effort.

The armor on the BC's is not ideal for fighting other BB's, but is only truly weaker at the bow and the stern, so you can still count on deflecting some shells if you can bait the opponent into hitting your belt while angled. If you have to engage a BB, you would want it to be as isolated as possible to let you charge them and get torpedoes off.

You are a Cruiser-killer!
At high tiers, you will do best staying back and using excellent DPM to shell large cruisers and BB's at range, but you reaaaaally don't want to have stand-up fights with other BB's.

Hi! Not a stupid question at all.

WoWs is an incredibly complex game. Sure, it's easy to hop into a bote, press WASD and click on stuff, but to really learn some competence takes hundreds of games, even thousands. This can be a major deterrent to new players and "simpler is better" is generally our rule of thumb to avoid overloading new players. Mods and such are available through modstation , which we support, for those that want to make use of more info.

And yes, we do look at stuff like you suggested and add it when we think it's appropriate

I encourage you to apply to the Supertest program if you want to test ships

Not yet - because we're extremely careful about adding new info to it.

I don't know what you mean by "The WOT team came to wows"...

The WoWs team is separate from WOT because we are different games.

Camos are not useless, unless you feel that aesthetics of any kind are inherently useless. Choosing how you present yourself in-game visually has got to be one of the most common things that any modern game features: expression.
If that's not worth it to you, then don't do it.

You don't "burn them" faster. Nothing is being consumed, it just automatically remounts a new one.

But like I said to the above poster, I will make a note that there is a wish to see a toggle for remounting

It is intended that expendable bonuses auto-refill, yes, but they do not auto-repurchase. You can see that the auto-purchase tab is there in the picture above and is set to off by default.

From internal metrics we found that the vast majority of folks keep consumables set to auto-mount, so we made that the default.

I will make mention that there is desire for a toggle. One that allows players to turn off auto-mount similar to the current "auto-purchase".

@PotatoMD

Ahskance and I will see if we can find some information about it and share. I know that the reception to this change was not received well by the testers - a shock to me for sure. I cannot go into further details, but it is still something we are actively working on.

We don't look at it that way.

As you say, "But as present in the game, it presents NO information by default, you have to click on the submenu for any information", we consider that information as there by default, counter to what you assert.

I have 17k battles in World of Tanks, but I haven't played consistently in a while. When I open up the garage, there are SO many submenus and sub categories and tabs and windows that I honestly feel overwhelmed, and even I can jump into a game and perform well. We want to avoid that direction, with all respect to Tanks.

Having too much information on the screen at once actually hinders most people.

Veteran players who have ingrained most statistics can benefit from cluttered UI because they know what to ignore, but as stated here before it can be very new-user unfriendly.

This was the biggest reason for the exo/exterior rework.

The previous system was too complicated, so we created a new system to simplify it for new players.

Someone already said it, but the answer to a thing like this generally is that we don't want the UI to be too cluttered. You may feel like "more info = easier for new players", but the truth is that a barrage of data right from the start is overwhelming and makes people turn away before they even get started.

It's better to give their 34kt destroyer an indicator that speedboost increases speed by 8% and let them understand approximately what speed comes out. Knowing whether the final speed is 37.4kts or 36.72kts is largely irrelevant when you're in a match and would only serve to distract.

Nope
As we stated in the Waterline episode and Roadmap, they are slated for 2022! Don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to them. IJN was the first of 2 lines of cruisers so I'm excited to see how new ones will fit into the current states of things.

@Halonut24
Great review!
I think you've hit a lot of the pieces of what San Diego can do and what she cannot. Great to see your take on it.

Thank you for sharing
