I know that monster champions aren't as popular as humanoid champions.

I miss BIG champions. I like the Malphite size increase thing they have going on. I was really sad when they reduced Sion's model size by 5% back in the day.

Sett is one of the physically largest champions we've made in a while. L O R G B O I

lmao I don't know, actually. Our summoner names are available on our internal registry.

I don't suppose you know how Settrigh should be pronounced proper?

When I was in the Insights meeting with the team O'Bryan pronounced it as Sett-rick, like Cedric but Sett. But I might be misremembering/wrong.

Not quite related, but due to his VA being DIO is there a way to change his voice to japanese (but just sett's)?

I'm sure every weeb at Riot wants to know the answer to that question

Making sure to leave her some cash and kiss her good night like a good son. Let's just hope she doesn't ask to visit the Orphanage or to take her to the job one day.

Like I said before: Sett is one simple ass dude and that's easily his strongest point. No convoluted story involving bunch of other characters(yet): Just him being the boss of an arena, making money, beating people's asses, and taking care of his mom. A good character overall.

You thought it was Sett, but it was me, Settrigh!

I read that they only had 4 months, so it's understandable. Thanks for listening and also for being communicative with that write-up into the design process! Team has done a great job.

Overall there was longer, but the art team had a limited time, yeah. They absolutely crushed it. They're so talented!

I'm very pleased with how the Ocean Rift turned out. I also have seen a lot of commentary from others who find it relaxing and enjoyable. I just wish the other elements would have such an aesthetic effect. I really hope Riot continues to add to the other types to make them more pronounced. I'm convinced this could make a profound difference in how it feels to play the game for the better, just because it adds something harmlessly entertaining to look forward to with each random terrain event. Aesthetic changes can be so abstract yet deliver meaningfully stimulating vibes.

As ideas, I would like to see the cloud Rift with a bit of fog over impassable terrain, where it's less of an issue with confounding visibility, and then add baby drakes onto some spots in the map, either peeking out of brush or an addition onto impassable terrain. Maybe even have a flock on occasion fly between parts of the map, although that might be too excessive.

I would like the infernal rift...

The team actually talked about elemental critters a lot! With the timeline they were under it wasn't feasible for the initial launch, but they spoke about adding some more flavor later!

Man it is so crazy to see how sounds are created. Any cool league SFX that you really like could possibly be made by a monkey banging sticks together. Reminds me a lot of the Zac condom.

The sound team is insane! Working with them on this, Aphelios, the music skin SFX article, and some other stuff has been a true highlight of my job. They're so talented and really lovely people!

But isn't that also true for your opponents? And it's even less clear to them because you can't see what his off hand is like the player can. If the different weapons are as "op in certain situations" as described, I can see some hesitation or frustration being caused by not knowing if he can swap to a weapon that will negate what you want to do against him. Probably less so for his lane opponents because they will presumably see both weapons and new ones when they come out. But still, I can definitely just hear a lot of people going "wait wtf, he can do that" for much longer than other champs. I'm buying him day one

There's really only one weapon that requires enemies to be aware and that's Gravitum, the big black hole looking weapon.

A huge art of Kindlejack's work was making sure everyone could tell which weapons Aphelios was wielding and to make the way he held them seem clear.

Did Riot at no point of his creation thought "This champion is obviously gonna be useless in the hands of most players but extra OP in pro-play so we'll have to nerf him countless times to the point where he's not just "kinda useless" but like, literally useless to everyone else, and then we'll either abandon him or try to make some mini-rework thing"?

So a part I cut from the article (due to length) was more around the decision to make him an ADC. The team shared that because Aphelios is an ADC, this allows more wiggle room for players to learn him. Even if you can't yet grasp the weapon swapping and just auto and Q, you're building AD items so you're going to do damage. You're still adding to the teamfight.

But if you put in the time to practice, learn weapon combos, and understand the kit deeply, you'll end up with some absolutely insane highlight reels.
