Kastrull is in fact Swedish and means a cooking pot (or it may be some other things too but this is what we intended). It is pronounced like this: https://forvo.com/word/kastrull/

As it appears in the game though, in the meaning of a submarine found on a multinational moon of the future, I think you have licence to pronounce it as you like ;)

To answer OP's question: no, sadly, this is not an option. I am not even entirely sure whether that's a developer/publisher/platform question, either – so I am also somewhat doubtful regarding our future plans for this sort of deal. Sorry that I can't be of more help! For what it's worth, I would like to second what Shiro says: You do not necessarily need to enter this game with friends, as we have friendly people around. Both wikis are made by fans, and both were to a degree facilitated by us; the new one on barotraumagame.com is also owned by us, so it gets less ads and sadly also less search engine love. But we try :)

We're currently working on ways of improving the experience a new player has when trying to get into the game, but you're right that Barotrauma has a lot of moving parts and we've got out work cut out for us in that department. If you have the time and energy to join in editing the wiki, you are very welcome! In any event, we're hoping to make information more easily findable, in the game and outside it.

The shrinking of the map is indeed optional, and as we are still firmly in early access, everything in the game is still subject to change – so while it is not being initially released as gradeable and we do not at present have plans for making it so, your feedback, once you get to play the feature in practice, will be very welcome as always!

From our side of things, the apprehension surrounding the topic seems somewhat surprising, even though we knew it was coming... so we urge you to try it and see for yourself, because we don't think it's actually that harsh :) but as it became apparent not everyone was feeling excited about this in any good way, we decided it should be optional from the start. "This is most likely caused by the lighting: when a light source is moving relative to a sub, it needs to constantly recalculate the shadows cast by the things the light hits. Because of that, subs/shuttles with lots of external light sources can cause a large performance hit"

Do you think that would explain what you're experiencing?

Hi! Thank you so much, reading this made us very happy. When our publisher suggested a bonus magazine like this, we weren't really sure we knew what we were doing, and the end result was a nice surprise to everyone involved! That's to say, the magazine is made by the same people who make the game: our lead developer, two designers, lead artist and myself handle the bulk of the writing, and the Barotrauma art team is responsible for the visuals, from the illustrations and ads to the layout and graphic design (which we here have been particularly impressed with, too – I don't think we even knew we had a graphic designer in our midst before this!)

The compliments have been relayed to the team :) When we hopefully get around to making the planned third volume, one day, we hope you'll enjoy that one as much as the existing two!

Hi everyone! To clarify, the topic will not be deleted due to us taking offense – you are entirely within your rights to say this. However, according to the numbers we can see, Barotrauma shows no signs of dying, and if you look around these forums for earlier threads on this topic, you may see that they quickly turned less than pretty. For that reason, you are right that we tend not to be too enthusiastic about seeing this brought up here.

So, I wanted to write back as soon as I noticed this topic to encourage everyone to participate and help make this a polite, respectful discussion that stays on topic. Discussions like that are always welcome on our forums, whether we agree with some views that are expressed or not.

Hi everyone, and thanks Pike for sharing the link – we do indeed use that Discord a lot to help players stay up to speed with what we're working on.

Regarding the alien ruins specifically, it's likely but not quite set in stone yet that we'll make an update focused on ruins content later this year. It is, however, not the first order of business, and instead the next major update will have to do with the Abyss and some other improvements to the game world. Hope you'll like it!
