Thanks @MakingAccountsIsFun

Can you please try the following -

  1. Go to the Launcher folder in the Vermintide 2 directory
    \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\launcher
  2. Create a text file named steam_appid.txt with 552500 inside
  3. Right-click on launcher.exe and select ‘Properties’
  4. In ‘Compatability’, disable the ‘Run as Administrator’ checkbox and select OK
  5. Try launching Vermintide 2

Please let me know how this goes.

Hi @PonPon,

Thanks for the report!

We’re currently investigating this issue. It would be extremely helpful if you can provide your console log(s) from a session this has occurred. Ideally, we’re needing to see logs of this happening when you are the host.

Hm, I’ve also noticed the following error in your console log -

You need to have the Steam Client running to play the game.

I also recommend to try the following -

  • Ensure you have the latest Steam client updates installed
  • Try running Steam and Vermintide 2 as Administrator
  1. Right-click your Steam App icon on your desktop and select ‘Open file location’
  2. Right-click steam.exe and select ‘Properties’
  3. Select ‘Compatability’
  4. Enable the ‘Run this program as an administrator’ option and select ‘OK’
  5. In your Steam library, right-click on Vermintide 2 and select Manage > ‘Browse local files’
  6. In the Vermintide 2 directory, go to the ‘binaries’ folder
  7. Right-click vermintide2.exe and select ‘Properties’
  8. Select ‘Compatability’
  9. Enable the ‘Run this program as an administrator’ option and select ‘OK’
  10. Try launching Verm...

Sorry for the delayed reply!

As you can launch in Modded realm this indicates the issue is Easy Anti-Cheat related.

Please try the following -

Ensure appropriate Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions are in place for Vermintide 2 and Easy Anti-Cheat. You’ll need to add the following exceptions:

  • vermintide2.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries
  • vermintide2_dx12.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries_dx12
  • EasyAntiCheat.exe in \Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat

Perform a ‘Selective Startup’, which can help to determine if a background application is the culprit:

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load startup...

That’s quite unusual.

So, by subscribing and unsubscibing to mods you’re finding you’re then unable to launch correctly in Official realm on subsequent launches? Hmm.

It’s a shot in the dark, but please also try the following -

  • EasyAntiCheat.exe in \Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat

Try a clean re-installation of Vermintide 2. Please see:

Hi @Sulshim,

We’ll check this out.

Could you please also provide your console log from the session this issue occurred?

Hi @Kuram,

Thanks for the added info. One of our developers has asked if you could please provide us with an ETW trace so we can look into this.

To do so:

  1. Get the latest release (etwpackage1.58.zip as of today) from Releases · google/UIforETW · GitHub. This is an open-source tool from Google to record and manage Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) traces.

  2. Extract the contents, and run etwpackage\bin\UIforETW.exe. This will inst...

Hi @BladeOfThePoet,

Sorry to hear this.

In your console log I can see a GPU-related crash, and for the crash report, there isn’t actually a clear discernable reason why this occurred.

I recommend to run through our GPU crash solutions here:

Hi @FreezingBlue,

It’s intended that joining a level mid-way will not grant challenge completion.

Thanks @Arcter, I can see you encountered a networking crash. I’ve raised this internally and we’ll investigate.

I don’t have any immediate specific solutions, though if you find the issue persists I recommend to try verifying integrity of game files:

  1. Right-click Vermintide 2 in your Steam library sidebar
  2. Select ‘Properties’
  3. Select the ‘Local Files’ tab
  4. Select the ‘Verify the Integrity of Game Files’ button
  5. When complete, close and reopen Steam

Thank you again for the report!

Hm okay, thanks for the update! I’m glad to hear there’s a workaround for now at least.

So we can look into this further, could you please launch Vermintide 2 and provide your launcher log (if one is generated) after you’ve become stuck on the .NET Framework script?

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2
  4. Locate the vermintide2_launcher.log in this directory

Thank you!

@Valorean Thanks for the info!

The developer investigating would also like to know which .NET Framework your friend currently has installed. To find this, please ask them to do the following:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu and type ‘Powershell’
  2. Select ‘Windows Powershell’ app
  3. Paste the following command and press ‘Enter’

Get-ChildItem ‘HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP’ -Recurse | Get-ItemProperty -Name Version -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Where-Object { $_.PSChildName -match ‘^(?!S)\p{L}’} | Select-Object PSChildName, Version

  1. Next, please paste the following command and press ‘Enter’

dotnet --list-runtimes

That’s… quite strange! Karak Azgaraz is a free DLC that is available for all players. I’ve also checked your account in the backend and can see Karak Azgaraz is present under your active DLC’s.

Can you please try restarting Vermintide 2 and check again?

Karak Azgaraz levels should be available to select from the Keep map, here:

Khazukan Kazakit-Ha! will be the third available level. Have you completed the first two levels?

Hey @Xevichr,

Thanks for the detailed report. From your findings, I’d suspect it to be an ISP issue.

You appear to have already run through all of our connectivity error solutions which I would normally suggest. If you do contact your ISP you can also quote our backend endpoint URL:
https://5107.playfabapi.com/
Just to ensure they aren’t blocking any network requests to our servers. (Though as this a connection timout error opposed to a sign-in timeout, I would expect this to be okay)

Hi @jordanzzxc,

I can see the exit code 0xC0000005 in your logs. This usually indicates a conflict with Anti-Virus or Firewall.

Please check out our solution, here:

Hi @myblackpool

I can see you’re trying to select Necromancer career on Modded realm. Can you please ensure you have first logged into Official realm with Necromancer once, and then retry Modded realm with Necromancer after this?

Thanks!
